I was unimpressed with the first book but didn't hate it, so I decided to give the second one a try, and I wanted to see how things turned out after the events of the first. This book didn't give much of what I was hoping for, as it focuses on a new character. The characters from the first book are present, but their story is mostly on hold.

These books feel very confusing and unrelatable to me. At first I thought it was due to it being a fairy story, as they are not my favorite because of how you can never trust anything around you when fairies are in the mix. But I think my dislike of these books come from more than the subject matter. I don't have any real feel for who these characters are outside of their interaction with fairies. They don't feel like realistic people who go to school. The characters are under-developed. I especially don't like how the human main characters, both in this book and the previous, find themselves in situations where the consequences of their actions are very high but they are completely clueless that there are any stakes at all. This leads to the narration making a big deal out of seemingly ordinary events, and unfair consequences.

I think the premise of this book had some promise. I like the idea of a tattoo linking people together, but again, I don't like how clueless the main character was to what she was doing.

I'm honestly not really sure what to say about this book. I really enjoyed the first book and had high hopes for this one but I was sadly disappointed. This was just a terrible book. I did not enjoy any scenes at all, everything was just bleh. I didn't like the plot, the characters, I can't say there was one thing in this book that I liked. This was just terrible.

- Leslie
Horrible main character. She was just ugh.
I can't even find words to say how much I disliked Leslie's character. She has recently been through traumatic events she chooses to get a tattoo that ties her to Irial. Now, after going through her traumatic events, I just can't believe how easy it was for her to just -- I'm just not going to say anything about that because I don't want to spoil anything for any of you. All I can say was that I did not like Leslie at all.

- Niall
When we are first introduced to him, I had such high hopes for him. But that plummeted rather fast. I can't say that I liked any of the characters in this book. Niall seemed like he was going to be such a great character, I thought I was going to fall in love with him, but sadly (again) I was disappointed with the outcome.

- Irial
No. No. No. No.
I hate Irial.
Can I just throw boulders at him? Ugh, even though he went through a change, I couldn't bring myself to like him. He was just ugh. I can't even find words to describe honestly.

Overall, I did not like this book at all. I do plan on reading the rest of the series because I did enjoy the first book but I'm expecting much anymore. After reading this one, I'm not sure if I want to get the next book anytime soon because this was just horrible.

I read this a while after I read Wicked Lovely, the first in this series, but I don't remember it as well so I guess I didn't enjoy it as much as Wicked Lovely.

I debated a while as to whether I would give this 3 or 4 stars; obviously I chose 3. Even though I liked Leslie, Niall, and Irial much more than Aislinn, Seth, and Keenan in Wicked Lovely, it was a tad depressing.

As much as Wicked Lovely wasn't totally my tea, and that Ink Exchange didn't totally captured me, I must admit Melissa Marr's writing for her characters was descriptive and I could really feel each character's style. Will read the next couple books in the series, but not sure if I will enjoy it or not. Probably a so-so again.

INK EXCHANGE is definitely the dark side of the fae world. I had a much harder time listening to it than I did WICKED LOVELY, book one in the series. Not that it wasn't good, it was just very brutal.
Leslie was probably the only bright spot and she was a victim trying to drag herself out of her hell. She puts on a brave face for her friends at school because she doesn't want them to know she has a missing mother, alcoholic father and a drug addicted brother who loans Leslie out to his druggie friends.
She visits her friend Rabbit's tattoo shop each evening after school and work, looking for the perfect tattoo that she thinks will help her dig herself out of her troubles. She finds it in Rabbit's special book, a book of fae tattoos, ones that will tie her to the fae world in ways she doesn't realize.
The ending is worth the wait as is watching Leslie grow as strong as she can through her travails.
I am looking forward to the third book in the series, FRAGILE ETERNITY.
Four dark fae beans.....

At times hard to follow, but I do appreciate that the main character is actually treated like a teenager, especially when it comes to the love triangle and relationships at the end...lets see what the next one has to offer!
