If you love your TV Soaps, this is a series for you. Who did it? The husband who's recently divorced and married a showgirl from Vegas over a weekend? His mother who still loves his ex-wife? The ex-wife who is still madly in love with her ex-husband? The over-due pregnant sister who can't stop eating sweets? The middle school band teacher who went to high school with the showgirl? The baker who is too nervous about confessing her love for the local detective? Her mother's new boyfriend from Britain, who's the heartthrob of the church potluck? The baker's assistant who just had to reschedule her wedding?
This popped up on my seasonal recommendations from my library. It attracted me because it's based in my home state, Minnesota - and I will admit I have been to a handful of church potlucks like this one - not with murder - but the small-town gossip and MN nice we all whip out during the holidays. I'm stuck between 2 stars and 3 stars - it's a charming story, but just not for me.
Overall Rating 2/5
Would I read this again? No
Would I read more from the author? Probably not
Would I recommend this to a friend? No
Could I put it down? No, but I lost focus several times during the audio
Do I regret reading it? No, like I said, charming

This was fun, I really love the bits of humor sprinkled in and how the whole family investigates. I also love the mighty girl moment at the end.

Narrator(s): Suzanne Toren
The Characters:
Hannah Swensen:
Mike, Norman, Lisa, Mother, Michelle (baby sis), Andrea (middle sis),

80% of this book took place in the community center so it gives me one-act play vibes. I love Hannah and her crew. It was nice to have Michelle home and yes, I agree with their suspicions about mom's new beau.

Another great story from Joanne Fluke. I listened to this on audiobook and it was like a Hallmark movie for my ears. If you love a good cozy mystery you’ll enjoy this one.

Is the author Mormon or something? I like these books a lot but what’s with all the marriage talk? People getting married at 18, getting proposed to after dating for 3 weeks, afraid of not getting married by age 30, etc. IDGAF.
Ironically, Hannah is a feminist (by action and thought, not by declaration) and is casually dating 2 men.

Meh
A full 40% of this book is an actual cookbook. This is the first one I've read of the series, but was expecting a recipe or two and back to the story. Nope. It just kept going. The story was pretty simple, only 150 pages long. Not a series I'll go back to.
