Great Read

This was an enjoyable read. This is the sixth book of the Hannah Swensen series. I enjoy cozy mysteries like this one. In this book, Hannah is preparing for the Eden Lake Annual Christmas Festival. When preparing, a local, Mr. Martin Dubinski arrives at the banquet with his new Vegas showgirl wife he married just a week prior. Then, the “new” Mrs. Dubinski is found killed in a parking lot, and it is up to Hannah and her gang to solve the murder, while getting ready for the blizzard. Will she find the killer? I thought the story was great. The series is improving in my opinion each book. I thought it was a fun read to be honest following the investigation and see who the real killer was. I thought that Hannah was a great character. I found her witty, sassy, and interesting. I thought the ending was great. I cannot wait to read book 7. Peach Cobbler Murder, here I come. Overall, a great read.

fast-paced

It was a true Hannah Swenson story, but it was more of a short story than a novel considering the last half of the book was the town cook book.

Actual story is way too short, but there are a ton of recipes.

2.5 stars

Nice, cute and easy to read. This time the murder is at a Christmas buffet, and everyone is trapped because of the snow, so its up to Hannah to find the murder before the murder can leave the place.
This time the killer is not THAT obvious, but still the murder thing basically resolves itself way to easy, and its not the main point in the story at all. Didn't like the ending. Hope Hannah can make up her mind soon!! Is it Mike or Norman? I'm over this love triangle.

Not my favorite...

I felt like this case and story was sort of rushed and not as tricky as her usual cases. I am still a huge fan though.

Plot or Character Driven: Plot

Another quick installment in the Hannah Swensen series. This one is actually mainly comprised of recipes and it's lighter on the typical mysteries that we encounter in the other books of the series.

Sugar Cookie Murder finds Hannah Swensen and the crew gearing up to have a taste test of all of the recipes that have been submitted for the Lake Eden cookbook. When a someone's new wife turns up dead and is supposedly killed with the knife that belongs to Hannah's mother, she finds herself solving another case.

What Worked: This was a super quick read primarily because it's not as long as the other novels in the series. It's lighter on the mystery and doesn't have a sinister twist to it like most of the other novels. I liked hearing about all the foods submitted by the residents of Lake Eden. Some sounded great, while others sounded atrocious. Unfortunately, I still don't understand why we're dealing with all of this hate towards Mike. It almost feels like Fluke wants us to refrain from getting our hopes up about Hannah getting her HEA with him instead of Norman, but she does it in a way that's clunky and makes Hannah an annoying character. I'm hoping we get a little reprieve from this in the next installment.

Overall, another solid addition to the series. I'll be picking up the next one soon.

This book was short and sweet. It includes a ton of recipes too.
