A nice light-hearted read. Nothing too serious, not to fast paced. Not the best read from Eve Langlais, but good all the same.

A new twist in the look of heaven and hell.

Is this a humor book?

The author clearly does not know what a feminist is.

" “Oh, by the hag"s hairy tit,” interjected Bambi rolling her eyes. “What this idiot is having a hard time saying is your magic is sexually based.” Apparently this was significant. I just wished I got it. Bambi spelled it out. “You need to be sexually stimulated to build your magic back up.” " I don't get it. If it's sexually stimulated, than why did it only work when somebody else did the stimulating? Either way, it's a shitty trope.

FOR FUCKS SAKE, IT'S ONLY BEEN THREE DAYS YOU SHITWADS.

sex ≠ love

First in the Princess of Hell erotic urban fantasy series revolving around Muriel, Satan's bastard half-human daughter.

My Take
It's cute. It's got its funny bits---I did crack up over Lucifer. He's such the antithesis of the usual parent who wants to be proud of his daughter because she's still a virgin, she likes puppies, she's honest, etc., etc. Instead, Lucifer nags her because a) why is she still a virgin, b) why must she tell the truth, c) why is she nice.

It certainly humanizes Lucifer even amidst the attacks against his little girl, the wrong man chasing after her, and

"That would require manners, something you know I abhor," he retorted.

The funny bits were almost enough to make up for how inane the rest of it was with all the overdone melodrama and clichéd characterization---how does her kidnapper not see the oh-so-obvious clinker in this deal? Throw in the unreasonably fast insta-love and the way overdone oh, I must let him go excuse...gag… I'm trying to convince myself that maybe this is a satire.

"No respect, which would usually make me proud, but you're not following through with vile acts. You're making me look like a bad parent. ...My minions in Hell are laughing at me…"

Obvious much? When she lives at 666 Devil's Lane...in apartment 6?

I do wish Muriel would make up her mind. She doesn't want Auric nor does she hear him. Daddy would be so proud with how selfish she is. Then there's how very proud Muriel claims she is to be her daddy's daughter, and a few paragraphs later, she's so ashamed of it. I do wish she'd make up her mind...Langlais, that is. Then another misconnect. Auric is making her dinner---in his apartment. They eat. When they're attacked---after they've eaten dinner, mind you---he takes off his coat.

Oh, LOL, that is cute! I did enjoy Langlais' reasoning for Muriel's unexpected power amplification. Her description of Heaven is unexpectedly tragic. It makes too much sense about what keeps happening on earth, and I appreciate her point about Satan at least being honest. Oh, oh, oh, and then there's the call waiting response that Muriel gets, oh, too, too funny.

I'd read it for dad's dialog---it's the best part.

The Story
It's getting embarrassing. His daughter, one of Satan's daughters, is still a virgin. What's wrong with her? None of her sisters are virgins.

It's a conundrum, and one that Muriel herself is eager to fix. Now if only she can find a man to fall in love with...

The Characters
Satana Muriel Baphomet is the half-something, half-demon daughter of Lucifer. A twenty-three-year-old virgin! Can you see the theme here, LOL?? Anyway, she owns the Nexus, a bar, that's magic-free. Lucifer is her daddy, but did you know that God is her uncle? Buxom Bambi is one of her voluptuous half-sisters, a succubus---she keeps proudly winning the World's Biggest Slut award.

Auric is the first man to really capture her attention AND pass her tests. Now, whatever will she do with him? David, a shapeshifter, and Christopher, a wizard, are Auric's friends.

Charon, yup, the boatman, is Lucifer's best friend, and he cares for Muriel. He certainly spends enough time in her bar. His son is "not the sharpest blade", but dad's taking preemptive measures. Azazel is Lucifer's lieutenant, and he's still got the hots for Muriel.

Percy, a half-giant, is her bartender and bouncer; Sylvia, a wood nymph, and some dryads act as her barmaids.

The Cover
The cover is definitely eye candy for the ladies...with a nude Auric---flames do a lovely job of covering the...ahem...naughty bits, dang it---while Muriel is definitely hands-off in her lycra bustier and very-fitted jeans.

The title is to the point, for Muriel is Lucifer's Daughter.

I'll be honest, I only finished this because I thought the interactions with Lucifer were hilarious and amazing.

But I found Muriel to be a vapid, TSTL, flakey chick who talked a big game but actually was a damsel.

And I thought Auric was meh. A cardboard cutout alpha male. He actually says "I'm an old fashioned male, so from now on I get to call the shots" which made me roll my eyes so hard I think I got a brain bleed. And Muriel didn't argue that at all, which tells you all you need to know about her.

I like Lucifer, but I doubt I'll read onward ... even he isn't enough to make up for the mess of these main characters.

Yes, yes, yes. If you are looking for a enjoyable and funny reading experience than you have to check out this book. I am excited to see that there are many more books in this series as I am going to check them out. Muriel won me over right from the beginning. She is probably the only one that can get away with standing up to Satan. Her other sister, Bambi is right that Muriel is daddy's favorite.

Speaking of Satan; who knew that he had a heart. I mean how many other fathers would want their daughters to get their "cherry" popped. Satan was even nice enough to offer to give Muriel pointers for the bedroom.

Than there is the sexy Auric. The one that gives Muriel her wet dreams. He made everyone else disappear when he was around. His aura was that strong. Muriel and Auric kept things hot.

I meant to try this for ages, but then I got to try the audiobook and was in at once.

Muriel is the devil's daughter, and hey the devil seems really nice. At least around her. He seemed like a big weird softie. And he was very disappointed by her lack of sinning. Because Muriel wants to wait for love, and is not into the whole spread evil thing. Though neither does anyone else, hell seems to be more like, sin is good, but humans can do it on their own. And actual hell sounds good too, if you are not Stalin or someone, the normal sinners are just there.

I got off track, but it was a fun world, the devil was really nice. Muriel was nice. There is humour, some slaying of evil dudes, cute hellbeasts. And of course the romance. I am not big on insta, but it works, this woman has waited for 23 years to get her groove on. For a normal woman that would be ok, but for someone who was always bombarded by her weird family to get her freak on. No wonder she wanted to wait for the one. And in comes Dark tall and mysterious. Lust at once, romance at once, though there is this time where I wanted to kick him, grrrr, that you even thought that man!

A good narrator, I have listened to her before and she sits well in this book. It works great in audio, you really get the fun of things

I quite liked a few of Langlais' books in a sweet, over the top kind of way with big clichés and happily ever afters, but I must admit I found Princess of Hell a bit meh. not bad, just not impressive or necessarily something that would stick around in my mind for too long. Though I did quite like the Devil and his character.

She's Done It Again

Eve Langlais, being the awesome author that she is, has dished up yet another fabulous read that had me cracking up from start to finish. At one point I was a bit worried this wouldn't end on a good note, but was very happy to see that it did. Even while it left unanswered questions that hopefully I'll get a bit closer to having answers for in the next book.

I never thought that I'd actually be rooting for someone like Muriel and her father, but when you have someone who seems to be even worse than the Devil himself after you, it's kinda hard not to. Add to the fact that she's super quirky, a bit of rebel yet fiercely loyal to those she loves, and I found myself liking her in spite of her parentage and not minding if she and were friends.

It's definitely safe to say that the other books in this series will be in my possession within the next five minutes. I HAVE to find out what happens next! :D
