This book RUINED me. I DEVOURED this book and was left craving more!
I didn’t think it was possible to like or even love Celia. My heart broke for her. There is so much more to her story than I could have ever guessed. She is a fighter and a survivor. Edward may be the devil, but he’s a devil you can’t help but love. He is an alpha male, but there is a nurturing side to him and we got to see more of that side throughout this story. Though there were times were I hated him right along with Celia (especially during a certain trip but he made up for it.
Edward had a plan going into their marriage, however, his plans changed and throughout this book they continued to change. There was something about Celia that drew him in, that captivated him. She was felt the same when it came to Edward, she wants to be afraid of him, she wants to hate him, but there’s something in her that draws her to him. These two have CHEMISTRY that is kindle melting HOT. Talk about steam.
Edward is determined to break Celia. He demands honesty, but Celia isn’t one to share her games and her past with anyone for fear of judgement. Can Edward slowly break down those walls? Will he ruin Celia?
Slay: Ruin is captivating, addicting and full of twists and turns you’ll not expect. I can’t wait to see how Edward and Celia’s story continues.

When I started to read this series, I really didn't expect to like it this much!
I mean, I hated Celia so much in the Fixed series, while now I even like her.
And Edward, well, he's... something

The anticipation leading up to this book's release had me on the edge of my seat. After the crazy ending of Rivalry (the second installment in Slay Quartet). I have been at his author mercy as I waited for book two and let me tell you now, the wait was worth it, but I didn't doubt that for a second.
Book two throws us right back into Edward and Celia's story.
Edward is just as intense, arrogant, and manipulative as he was in book one. If not more and I freaking loved that about him. When he married Celia, he never expected what he got. But he was on a mission to uncover everything there is to know about this woman. He wants her to submit fully to him. The thing is.. there is no secret that he wants her... But there are feelings starting to surface that he never expected, and that unsettles him. But there is a need inside him that is driving him to need to know everything single thing there is about this woman and he's prepared to do what it takes to get inside that head of hers, take over her mind, take over every inch of her body and completely consumes this woman. Did I mention how much I love this man? I have no idea why, but I do and he is everything and more that I love about an alpha asshole hero. Ms. Paige never disappoints when it comes to her alpha male leads and Edward was sex on a stick!
Celia is the type that craves approval, craves positive attention and seeks it. Not exactly an attention seeker, but she has been neglected of most positive attention all her life, so when Edward starts to put time and effort into her, she can't help but be a little stand-offish. It's not something she is used to but it's secretly something she desires more than anything. To have that acceptance and approval. But something is holding her back, and she fears that if her secret comes out, she will never be looked at the way again. She fears judgment, to the point that she thinks if her secret does come to light that she won't able to handle the judgment that comes along with it. But the thing about Edward is that when he wants something, he gets it and he won't accept anything less and what he wants from Celia is her honesty and to be able to control her using it.
This two... God, I wanted to scream... Like I said above, I am not sure what it is about Edward but I am in love with that arrogant asshole. Everything about him had me putty in his hands. These two together though. I could feel the sexual tension between them. It only thickened as the book progressed. But will Celia trust Edward enough to open up? And if she does, will her secret be a deal-breaker? Should she trust him? And will he finally accept the fact that this woman has gotten under his skin and actually has fallen for the woman he married?
This was everything. Laurelin Paige has been a favorite of mine for some time and with every book I read, I fall even more in love with her words. She writes the best domineering assholes you love to hate and love to love.
It was capitating, all-consuming, addictive, and downright hot! I honestly couldn't get enough. The more of Laurelin's words I read, the more I fall in love with them!
6/5 Stars!

God! I think I am in love with Edward. He's honest, caring, and considerate yet He's an alpha male with a domineering personality, and with a playful, mischievous nature that makes him sex on legs. I do like him more in the second book than in Rivalry because I've only seen his dark side, but somehow the way Paige crafted Ruin, and unveiled his past had altered my perception of him, and of Celia's as well for that matter. Both of them had undergone traumatic experiences that made them opt for maladaptive coping mechanism to numb the pain, and repress the emotional weight that comes along with them. In reading Rivalry, I was a bit disappointed because I've expected a self-discovery journey where Celia gets to deal with her own conditioning and repent from her awful wrongdoings by trying to heal herself, and change without having the archetypal male coming to save the day, and fix her which in a way that's what Edward is, but again, sometimes only with the love that flows in intense and unexpected waves we could learn to love ourselves, and be better. Edward brought the best out of Celia through his dominance over her, and only in her submission that she learns how to embrace her feelings, and work though them rather than take it out on people and play games. I love this book so much because it is dark, and twisted, and it reflects how sometimes the things we abhor the most are the things that could make us the best version of ourselves. Celia wouldn't have metamorphosed if it weren't for Edward's unique demanding personality. They fit together like a puzzle, and I'm so rooting for this couple!!!!

This is the second book, so please read book one first. It starts right where the first one left, Slay had an ending that had me on edge until I got Ruin, and it just kept getting better and better, I love the angst and I love how this characters Celia and Edward interact, I am ruined now I need the next one like yesterday, this is so good. A must read top list for sure.

ARC received for an honest review
Now, I wasn't such a huge fan of the first book in this series. I really wasn't sure what I thought of Edward. And I really didn't expect to feel sorry for Celia Werner, however I did and in this second installment I did even more.
I am still unsure of my feelings towards Edward. I will admit that by the end of this installment, I am slowly starting to come around to him and his ways.
This was a bit creepier than the first installment. However it was also hotter, sexier and more tender than the first one. You can feel the attraction between them growing - even with the scare factor thrown in ,there is true feelings growing between them.
And just when I think things will go one way, we come to the end of this installment.
I have no idea where this story is going to go. I know where I want it to go, however I know I am going to have to wait a while to find out. Please don't make me wait too long.
