This is a page-turner!!!
Ruin continues right where Slay ends!! Edward and Celia have an interesting relationship. He plans to break her down to ruin her and her family, in the process he actually listens to what is said. What he thought she was he realized was just a cover for a totally different person.
Celia was always the one we wanted to hate, but now the layers of her characters have been peeled off one by one. The real Celia appears in Ruin. We never truly know a person until they strip themselves bear to us.
What does Edward think of this Celia? What happens to Edwards revenge plan? Will they really become a husband and wife team?
This was a definite page-turner. Laurelin Paige really knows how to draw the reader in!!! I am excited to read book 3!

I am so confused.
How did she do it?
I pride myself on having the measure of people.
I see. I listen. I know.
I saw Celia. I heard her nastiness. I knew she was someone I could never like.
LP says, “I’m doing some books about Celia.” “Good luck to you, LP. I’m not reading about her. I hate her with a passion.”
How did she do it?
Now I’m team Celia. Go C. I don’t think I’ve ever done a full on u-turn on a character. Ever. And yet I have. And I think I love her. And I want to send her care packages with little love notes. I want to send a boat to Amelie and rescue her from the island. I want to do yoga with her and we will scheme about how to get revenge on Edward. Oh yes, because he is going to get what’s coming to him. He’s a devil and a jackass.
I’m so cross with Edward. So cross. But damn you woman I need more Fasbender.

Is it the 29th yet? Jesus Christ.. I feel like I’m in that room still just suspended in time with the same shared fear and horror as Celia.

Ok I am so on the boarder.... after the Fixed trilogy I did not think that there was any way that I could come to like Celia. After Rivalry I was feeling bad for her. This man that she married, she knew he was not good.... but she thought that she could seduce him into being what she needed him to be, and when that didn't work I actually felt kind of bad for her because I felt like he was sending mixed signals and then she would take a leap just to fall and then crash on her face (again). Slay brought a whole new emotion out of me. After hearing more about her story, I don't like her yet.... but now I am not feeling bad for her like I was before.... But I feel like I better understand her and how she got into the situation she was in. And this is only the 2nd book of 4! I am quite sure that I will be a Celia fan by the time I get through with the 4th book and then I will have to go back and read Fixed Forever again so that I can see that with different eyes! Laurelin is breaking me down!!! BREAKING! ME! DOWN!!!! And I didn't think it was going to be possible. I LOVE when an author can make me love a character that they originally made me hate.

I devoured the first audio book getting to know Edward and Celia. And after a small break wanted to dive right into getting to the deeper depths of their relationship.
I will say I pulled an all nighter just listening to Shane East read for Edward. But I didn't care too much for his actions in this book. I think Celia suffers from Stockholm Syndrome and Edward's choices religiously this book gave me pause.
I knew from the first book that Celia would have some traumatic events in her past but to get talk about them in detail was heartbreaking. Oh understood Edward's desire to hearit, try to carry the burden and I know he'll seem revenge in the future. But his method to help get her past it, I'm not so sure about.
I trust in Laurelin to give me a compelling story, so I'm holding my breath on how it will turn. But for now I need a nap!

I'm so in love!! Previously in Slay, I hated Edward for doing what he did to Celia. But he redeemed himself in this one. I just wished there's more POV on his part so that I know what's he thinking and feeling.
But other than that, I loved this one even more than Slay. More secrets are revealed, feelings reciprocated and questions answered. But I can't wait for the finale! When I got to the end of this book, I was hoping there's another chapter to be read. But I'll have to wait for the next one!
