This book was so fabulous! Very well written with so many different perspectives on the same set of events. I thoroughly enjoyed!

This book is character driven with a lot of long back stories and convoluted suburban drama. I think I would’ve liked it more if there had been more suspense, but I knew what was going to happen before it happened, which made the story a bit boring. I appreciated the themes of maternal love, plans vs passions, and race relations. But the book felt more like telling instead of showing, which wasn’t as engaging as it could have been.
Content: a few concerns to be aware of, but none explicit or graphic.

i would recommend this book to pretty much anyone. little fires everywhere is such a realistic view on race, class, privilege, and motherhood.
it’s the clever little things- “mia” vs “mrs. richardson,” never elena. the careful use of mirabelle and may ling. the juxtapositions between the richardson and warren households. the unspoken connection between each of the richardson children and pearl/mia. how the bebe/mccullough conflict is not just a side plot, but an integral contributing part of the central themes. the relevance overall- ng just writes microaggressions and ethical dilemmas so well. some of the language used in this book reminds me of white liberal activism and empty “we see you, we hear you” mentality. and the courtroom scene- everything ed lim says
i had watched the show before i read this book, and although i really liked the show, the book is superior. there are a few plot differences and i prefer the original book plot more. and can i just say reese witherspoon was the perfect choice for elena richardson
please read this if you haven’t already!

I wasn't sure how I would feel about this book before I read it. Normally, I enjoy more action and adventure in a book. However, I was surprised with how much I enjoyed Little Fires Everywhere. This is a beautiful story that investigates the reason why people make certain choices in life and how it changes life down the road. The most beautiful lesson from this book is that we are all faced with hard choices at times, and sometimes we have to decide what is right for ourselves. Other people don't know your situation as intimately as you do, and that is not for anyone else to judge. If you need that lesson, which I suspect many of us do, this would be a good read. Even if you don't, maybe it will give you a better understanding of those who do.
