An origin story and a pretty good one. Possibly the origin story but hey this is Marvel and what is done can be thrown away and redone. But a surprisingly good story with an interesting mix of characters done pretty well. No real beginning or ending but that doesn't bother me much. With good enough art and writing.

My favorite part is Cosmo the telepathic cosmonaut dog.
The art in the first issue is too frenetic, hard to discern what is happening, but this gets better as you go through the collection.
Will read more. :)

While it was a pleasant introduction to the Guardians of The Galaxy and a talking raccoon makes up for a funny character, the cosmic setting of this book didn't quite captivate me. It will be interesting to see how Marvel can translate this into a exciting movie.

I think I would have benefited from dipping into the Annihilation arcs before jumping into the world of the Guardians of the Galaxy, but nevertheless I had a lot of fun with Star-Lord and company. An unusual and memorable cast of characters interact and do battle together, struggling to find their dynamic as a team, and the finale has definitely left me wanting to know more. Epic and fun.

I really enjoyed these first six issues of Guardians of the Galaxy. It was a fun, action-packed romp with a variety of characters. If reminded me of slightly cheesy sci-fi TV from the 90s that I found enjoyable, especially "Farscape,"and Saturday morning cartoons.

The setting and characters are fertile ground for development. The characters are different enough for everyone to have a favorite. It'll be interesting to see the characters and the interpersonal dynamics develop. The vast space opera- type setting also opens the possibility of exploring themes frequently seen in sci-fi such as racism, politics, religion, etc.

For the most part, I liked the art. It's well-drawn and detailed with bright colors and good facial expressions. However, I often felt that the art became too "busy," especially during the action scenes, and the lettering/script wasn't as intuitive to follow as I think that it could've been.
