A lot of pop references but I liked it sometimes. Henley was so sweet I really liked her but Saul was a bit annoying. The plot pulls you right in which was really fun. A small town romance is always nice<3 a bit more angsty than I expected but in a good way
I listened to the audiobook and I really liked that

Abbi Glines does it again - such a lovely easy read. Although Saul was a pretty toxic character I enjoyed the story and the relationships that were shown.

OMG this book was really good! I can’t believe , when Henley‘s grandmother died she left a lists of items to send her on a quest to find her half brother Rio! And grandmother that she needed up working and baking for! I am so glad Honey left her house to Henley and I am also glad Saul and Henley’s relationship worked out… I was shocked when Lily, Saul’s mom was pregnant and gave the baby up for adoption. Saul was going to see his three-year-old half year old not having an affair /

I keep going back and forth on this rating. I think I’m landing on 3.5 stars…
I felt like this was a super shallow story that could have been deep and emotional but it just never got there for me. I really enjoyed going through Henleys list from her Gran, but I would have liked to know more about each person. I wish the relationship between Henley and Rio could have developed a little more and Saul, I’m not sure what Henley even fell in love with because we know nothing about him besides his mom and that he’s a loyal friend with a crude vocabulary. Ultimately, I liked this group of friends and what could have been, but it just didn’t quench my thirst for a deeper story.

Gah! There's that rush (pun intended) when one of your tip top fave authors releases a book and also works you up about it, getting you so ready for it. It's another feeling when you flip that first page and you silently pray to the book gawds that this not be anything less than perfect. I mean, there is only so many times a person can woo you to all the feels with words, right? At some point they are going to write one that doesn't leave you all invested and sad that it ended, I dread it with a few authors, Glines being one for sure.
Lyrics of a Small Town is so beyond perfect though. She got me. I was wound up and didn't put it down (cereal for dinner, people!). It's as modern as you can get, with present day situations woven throughout the plot, I loved that. The little nuances in the plot matter so much and Abbi nailed that in this book, it was written with love you can tell. The characters are all incredibly strong/well developed; I'm invested in them now too and that makes he hold out hope that we have books coming about each of them!
I never thought there would be another Rosemary Beach, but man have we just landed in one. I simply cannot wait for more. I apologize profusely to the book gawds for that fruitless plea earlier today. I didn't mean to bother you all, I knew better. Glines didn't let me down.
Also, a Sunday release!?! If that isn't love, I don't know what is!!

As usual, when I see Abbi Glines has a new release I jump for it. I can’t help but admit that her newer releases have either left me bored or just plain unsatisfied. I’m glad to say that even though I didn’t love this one, I at least was interested enough to finish it.
I was hoping that this would give me Rosemary Beach vibes and it did. The idea of a small beach town was here and I loved getting to know the residents. Our main characters Henley and Saul’s romance had a good backdrop here.
Moving onto the plot, it was pretty good. I like the idea of Henley learning about herself while on the quest that her grandmother gave her. The author gave us surprises a few times and it gave more depth to the story.
The relationship between Henley and Saul was okay. It seemed like it happened suddenly towards the middle of the book. They didn’t have many conversations, but soon there’s this tension and it feels like it came out of nowhere. It was a bit more new adult than I’m used to from her writing in the terms of the sex scenes. I’m not mad about it, it just surprised me! I wish we could have looked a bit more into their future and how things worked out for them.
All in all, this was a pleasant surprise. Not a book that I adored, but it gave me hope that maybe I’ll enjoy her upcoming releases more.

I normally don't read New Adult, but Abbi Glines can get me to do anything. Henley is a sweet and relatable character with so many goals for her future. It is sweet to see how she and other characters change over the course of the novel.
