It’s giving Hunger Games meets Ready Player One meets Dungeons and Dragons with a little bit of a foot fetish thrown in. I loved Carl and Princess Donut, and I never wanted to put this book down, but it did feel like part 1 of a longer book rather than its own story, and there were quite a number of creatures you had to learn about. Overall, though, great book, and I can’t wait to read the next book!

I listened to the audio version of the book. The narrator was truly excellent! The story was well written and the action scenes were easy to follow. The game aspect was well thought out. I will definitely read/listen to the rest of the series.

Reading this is like watching a let's play for an extremely annoying video game with a host you find mildly endearing. Reads VERY quickly and is ultimately pretty fun, but a lot of it is eye-roll worthy. The humor feels straight from reddit. But it kept me entertained, the pacing is breakneck (in a good way), and there's enough meat for it to be interesting.

I cannot believe I'm rating this 5 stars - this was a totally unexpected experience and unlike the books I normally read. It was hilarious, original, and I can't wait to read the next one in the series. Highly recommend the audio version.

It's just such a fun read- total brain candy.

It's violent, gory, and gross... but it's also sweet, sad, and funny.

I loved this book! - the characters are well developed, it's laugh out loud funny, the storylines are thought out, and the plot is exciting and makes you want to continue reading. If you love playing video games/RPGs this is a perfect story for you!
