I liked the end of the book the best. The middle of the book was often flowery, and the last few chapters brought the plot back in business. I admire Emily's courage and honesty. Montgomery's description of Emily's intuition and struggle to make decisions was so on point that I had flashbacks to my college days. I'm curious to see if Emily has any three o' morning regrets in book #3.

I couldn't help but wonder if the bottom of pg 310 (Chapter 24) was actually Montgomery's personal rant, even though a part it reads, "they'll all think you're the heroine of your own stories..."

I loved this sequel to Emily of New Moon; L.M. Montgomery's writing flows easily and she captures Emily's thoughts so easily—which is no surprise, considering Montgomery seems to have modeled Emily after certain aspects of her own life. Emily has tenacity, ambition, and resolve in a way I can only envy.

As with any book written during a different era, it's interesting to see what was looked down upon (school plays, writing fiction?!) and what was considered upright. It's a major reason I enjoy reading older books—what a great time capsule!

I'm looking forward to completing the Emily of New Moon collection!

Cudotwórczość dla takich znerwicowanych osób jak ja. To już nawet nie kocyk, tylko cała pierzynka. Ale podtrzymuję swoje stanowisko z pierwszej części, że Dean jest porobionym kripeuszem.

Some say the plot is not coherent enough, it's just scenes following one another. I see where that comes from, but for a lot of people high school remains exactly this: some funny/not-so-funny stories they tell people forever on family and friend occasions. Sidenote: this is my first Montgomery in book format, I only watched a few Anne movies and a few episodes of the Road to Avonlea series, so I'm no expert.

My only real complaints are the unexplainable, somewhat supernatural 6th sense things in both of the Emily books so far. But apart from those rare occasions, it was a pleasant audiobook from LibriVox.

The second book in the Emily trilogy gives us an Emily who is starting to grow up a bit and is taking more steps towards her dream of becoming a writer even if she can't write untrue stories for a few years due to a promise she made her aunt in exchange for her being allowed to go to school.

Delightful story of teen Emily, finding her voice and finding her way. A really sweet book, very enjoyable.
