Okay, so it wasn't my favourite series, though I quite enjoyed it.
I liked the characters, especially cute little bunny Liam, wide-eyed and cuddly Jude and fierce sarcastic Vida.
But maybe it was the political part or revolutionary part, but smth was defintely lacking to become really memorable for me.
I know that there is another book after this kind of fonished trilogy, but I don't feel like reading it.
I decided it's better to end with this outturn, at least for now.
Maybe I entered this series with too much high expectations, but I enjoyed the first book most of all. But it's defintely not the series, that will make my top.
I guess it's just personal.

The only reason I am marking this down, is because of the major action scenes. I felt like it was a little confusing to try and follow along with because of how they were written. Otherwise a truly amazing series, and ending to the trilogy. The ending had me tearing up! đ

In the After Light Review on K-Books -> goes live October 10, 2018
"The thing is...what they donât tell you about forgiveness is thisâyou donât give it for the other personâs sake, but your own."
After devouring Never Fade, the second book in the amazing The Darkest Minds trilogy, I couldn't wait to read the third and final book of Ruby's story. I have just been completely taken away by this series and I was dying to find out how it was all going to play out. I have to say though In the Afterlight is most definitely my least favourite book in the series. I was really disappointed in this one.
In the Afterlight picks up where Never Fade left off, with Ruby and what is left of the Childrens League in hiding trying to shut down the camps. Honestly, I found the first half of this book so slow and boring. It took me so long to read this book as I was just bored and couldn't find any motivation to actually read this book. The first 200 or so pages are so slow-going and it wasn't until after that that it picked up a bit. After that I started to enjoy it so much more and honestly thought the end of this was a perfect ending to the series.
In the Afterlight has a very open ending but I honestly loved that. It made sense to me that not absolutely everything was wrapped up. After everything that happened in the series it wasn't realistic that everything would be wrapped up nicely and I thought it was perfect. I most definitely shed a few tears at the ending of this book. It was very emotional and perfect.
I have really enjoyed this series and I am really excited that there is a follow-up that had just released. Due to me struggling with this one though I am going to have a break before reading The Darkest Legacy. If you love YA Dystopia novels I highly recommend this series. I really enjoyed it and I am so glad that I finally read it. A brilliant ending.
"I love you. With my whole heart. My whole life, however long I'm lucky enough to get, nothing will change for me."

3 stars ....(Finally I finished this series)
it was chore reading it, I did not enjoy it as much as I wanted, the plot was so so so slow, nothing big happened until the end of this novel. Nevertheless, this novel contains many characters I really loved like Cole, Liam, Ruby, Vida and Chub.

I honestly was worried that Ruby and Liam wouldnât get a HEA after everything they have been through.
Final thoughts: thankfully this didnât feel as jumbled as the second one and was able to stay focused. There was a lot of back and forth between the characters and a strain to the relationships that were really realistic to their situation.
I wish in the end we got multiple perspectives because there are some things I wish I was able to see only in Liamâs, Chubs or even Vidaâs head. Vida grew on me in the end, almost like how she grew on Chubs.
I wish we could have gotten an epilogue on the characters because while the ending was perfect I still want to know about more down the line but I guess thatâs what The Darkest Legacy is for đ¤ˇđźââď¸

Although Never Fade wasn't great, In the Afterlight was a great ending to an overall good series. All of my questions were answered and then some. Ruby's character development over the series is subtle yet drastic. She goes from a shy and unable to speak up for herself girl to a leader of a revolution.
I want more even though that's the end...
I'm prepared for the film though.

It took me a minute to get into, mostly because I didn't really remember any thing that happened in Never Fade (except the end, which I'm still crying about) but after that I read it in one sitting. Definitely a final book.

I was so excited for this finale!
Everything is wrapped up so nicely in this last novel. I really enjoyed the direction the story took and there were a couple of twists I certainly wasn't expecting. I don't want to say much plot-wise for fear of spoilers.
I knew Alex Bracken's writing was going to be fantastic, having read her later duology (PASSENGER and WAYFARER) prior to starting this trilogy, and I was not disappointed! I'll be adding Bracken to my must-buy list and I'm super excited to get some backstories from the novellas as well!
