The series slipped abit in the second book, and continues to slip here. The cosmic bits did not really engage me, and I only cared when we got down to earth with Chewie missing and the flashbacks at the end. Make no mistake, that bit was really good, but not enough for a better score for the whole book.

I really liked the beginning. But everything after the first arc
Spoilerwhich would make a great follow-up movie given the yon-rogg is the villain and Ben Kingsley of it all
was part of some other larger story arc (Avengers Assemble and some Spiderman thing), and I didn't get into those stories as much. 3 stars.

"The two of you together in your prime? You'd have made Thelma and Louise look like the Andrews sisters."

I don't ever read comics. In fact this was a first for me. I'm usually turned off by them for so many reasons. I can't take superhero's seriously if there is not a ton of humor. I mean many of them wear spandex... there needs to be some humor, for me, at least. Volume one of Captain Marvel exceeded my expectations. It had so much girl power, humor, and wit and that is why a thoroughly enjoyed it.

The illustrations in the first half of this are excellent! Absolutely stunning artwork that goes well with the writing. The last half of the artwork is not my style. I actually read some reviews here on GR after finishing and many people felt the same way that I did about it. I feel like they're lacking refinement. With that being said, the writing is exceptional throughout.

Hey, Chewie, you hungry? If you hurry, there's a man in a suit out front you can eat."

I bought this volume after seeing the movie. I simply adored the movie and meanwhile some things are different I was not mad. Loved it all in its entirety especially Carol's cat Chewie! I definiely recommend this with a 5/5 star rating. I especially recommend this for a first comic.

This can be broken into three sections: the fairly generic endcap to her space adventures, the Black Vortex tie-in issue that ends just as it gains steam, and the last issue that lands an especially powerful note. Another GR review by Jordan Lahn said, "I think I like Captain Marvel better as an idea than I like her specific adventures," and lately I agree.

There were three major story arcs in this slim volume. One wrapped up loose ends with Tic. The first one was my favorite, with Carol's flerken/cat, Carol bickering with Harrison -- her ship's OS, warp bear juice, and Tic's spunk. The second was a Black Vortex crossover, which had interesting elements but TOO MANY elements, and really, I know Marvel wants me to BUY ALL THE COMICS, but seriously. If you want me to start buying The Legendary Star Lord now, I need a little more reason to invest.

The final story arc brings Carol back to Earth and wraps up all the rest of the loose ends. There was a lot to like here, too, but it felt a little rushed.

I hear this is the end of DeConnick's Captain Marvel, which is sad. This is what brought me back into superhero comics int he first place. Now what?

Because I'm dumb I didn't realize this is the second volume until I left the library, but regardless, I really enjoyed this. Carol Danvers is a phenomenal character and the comic book itself has awesome illustrations and the stories are neat and have great themes. I think I can start getting the hang of comic books.

2.5 stars.

Only 4 issues here, and one of them was part of a crossover event that neither began nor finished within the pages of Captain Marvel.

These were excellent stories but I was super confused by the seemingly very random selection.
