Fun and funny, I learned a lot about Sarah Silverman and her work, but also her ways of coping with stress and stressful situations. It was a neat exploration of where and who she has been, but I particularly enjoyed the fact that the shortcomings and downfalls led to better success down the road.
I just found her story to be kind of boring and pointless. She seems like kind of a sweet person. After offending an Asian guy, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears she wrote them emails apologizing. But really there was nothing interesting in any of her stories. She portrays herself as this cute chick with big boobs who is just one of the guys but also hopelessly naive that you should think she's even cuter. Blech. Mostly, she really wants people to know she likes fart jokes. And ohmygod her voice. She has - hands down - the worst audiobook voice on the face of the planet. And when she imitates her father, get those earbuds out of your ears because you will cry. It's horrible.
I think she accomplished exactly what she was going for. I laughed, I learned about her life, I was vaguely offended but mostly entertained. No, it's not the best book ever written, or the best comedian memoir, but I like this stuff.
For a memoir, this was merely ok. There wasn't much depth to it, but it was an entertaining read. I was expecting to laugh more, seeing as it's Sarah Silverman, but was pleasantly surprised that she was more open and honest that I was truly expecting. Everything wasn't cloaked in humor. She did give readers some insight to what her life was, and is, and I appreciated that. I mostly enjoyed the parts where she discussed her father; the man she undoubtedly got her sense of humor from. However, I felt this man was never actually trying to be hilarious; he just was. If you're looking for a quick, no-thinking truly necessary book to read, pick this up and give it a shot.

This book is extremely dated which makes it so hard to read.
I read this a few years ago, and after reading Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's book, it reminded me to go back and find the book that originally introduced me to humorous memoirs, and my favorite comedian of all time.
