A little better than the first book, but more interesting was the background laid throughout on the history of Jackaby and his ghost housemate, which is obviously a set-up for a future book.

I liked this 2nd book in the Jackaby series. It was easy to see where the plot was headed in this was - it was still an enjoyable read. We got to know some of the characters better and I’m liking forward to continuing on with the journey!

Fun, charming, not quite as fully realized as the first book but still a very good mystery/paranormal time.

I keep forgetting to check my reading list and update it. I finished this book ages ago. Anyways, it was good and funny as I expected. Not as much as the last one.

I loved the new characters and the old ones as well. This was definitely a great read and the fact that the creatures in this book were mythological was even better.

I recommend this series honestly, it is great.

This one was even better than the first! I like the characters even more and this mystery was fascinating! The vibe is light, but there is also supernatural murders which is such a great balance! Starting book 3 today!

Loved it! The solution wasn't exactly a surprise but I love the witty characters and the resurrection of mythical beasts

One and a half stars. The first was charming and clever, but this was heavy-handed and poorly executed. I'll rec Jackaby to friends, but I'll make it clear they should pretend it's a standalone.

Up to the ending I enjoyed this book on a 4-stars level. It has amusing dialogues between Jackaby and Abigail, it features dinosaur bones, enticing new (and old...) creatures and a fun new character named Nellie who is a fierce young reporter but THEN during the grand finale
Spoiler not only Nellie is killed (the only other female character next to Abigail, not counting Jenny, a ghost) but also the chameleomorph dragon creature. Seriously? They couldn't have thought of any other way to protect the world from this wannabe-dragon? Like, for example, feed it something else, so it turns into a less dangerous creature like they did with the other chameleomorphs?
I'm so angry right now! But I'm still curious about the next book because at the end of this one we're finally starting to learn more about Jenny's past and this series really needs more of an overarching story arc.
