The Matchmaker and the Marquess by Scarlett Scott

Marquess Of Dorset has hated Lady Clementine Hammond for years. Clementine is famous for catching couples in "compromising" positions and making sure that they end up married to eachother. Her matchmaking abilities had separated him from a woman Dorset had loved dearly and he'd been determined to avoid ever coming face to face with Clementine.

Unfortunately for him, just that happens at a country dance arranged by Lady Fangfoss and if that wasn't worse, they're both found in a compromising position after an incident involving a certain bee. And Dorset takes this as an opportunity to give Clementine a taste of her own medicine.

I find it slightly unnerving that Dorset who claims to have hated Clementine for years later says that he's in love with her just because his penis stands tall at her thoughts. o_O

The plot also felt mundane since they hardly ventured away from the house party.

A very cute beginning to a series that involves two stories written by one of my fav authors (Caroline Lee) and I'm looking forward to the rest of it.

Am I allowed to call this cute? Because it was. It was very cute. Were the feelings sudden and maybe rushed? Yeah, but that's typical for house party novellas, right? It was a fun way to spend the evening and as I know I like the author's work, I'll definitely be checking out the rest of the series.

Enemies to lovers, betrothal of convenience and decisive courtship that becomes something more. Clearly part of a larger set of simultaneous stories, but readable on its own… fairly clean with only one love scene (epilogue).
Readable, even if the author peppers in some fancy language and high-falutin words occasionally.
Curious to read the rest of the series, even if I’m not a fan of some of the other characters. (Nearly all side characters, who clearly feature in their own love stories in the other books, were written negatively, or at least in a way that doesn’t set me up to root for them)…

One of my other favorite troops is fake engagement/fake relationship. The heroine and hero of this book accidentally are found in a compromised position. They must get engaged to save lady Clementine reputation. Marcus Dorsett despises prime and proper ladies. His heart was scorned by another. And I love the way he heals in this process as he fall in love with Lady Clementine. There’s a lot of steamy scenes in this book. Definitely a must read if you’re a fan of Scarlett Scott.

A fun read to get me out of a reading slump. The characters had great chemistry, and I connected with them in such a short read.
