I actually preferred this over CoLS. The plot was rather interesting when I could follow it, and the characters, especially Jace and Sebastian, became much more tolerable than before, maybe because of the two-year long gap between this and CoLS.

I rather enjoyed those moments with the Downworlders, particularly with Maureen, Raphael, Simon, and Jordan, but I felt it was really a pity, because the 'good' main characters that died were almost always Downworlders instead of Shadowhunters- at least, the Shadowhunters I could remember. Seriously, so many easily forgotten Nephilim dropped like puppets in this story. It didn't have an impact on me at all, and that felt like either a waste of space, or a waste of potential. The only people I actually felt rather sad to have died was Jordan and Raphael.

Also, the fact that Simon lost his memories, reverted back to a human, and decided to Ascend to become a Shadowhunter just didn't sit well with me. It's like it happened just so the ship between him and Isabelle could stay together. Sure, I could accept the 'becomes a mundane' part, but becoming a Shadowhunter? It just seems so... unreal. I'd been hoping to see more interaction between Simon and his human family, and I'd been especially curious about how his relationship with his mom and sister would turn out ever since CoLS. But seems like that's never gonna happen. It had so much potential.

But on the overall, I kinda enjoyed this book, even though I skipped so many paragraphs and chapters. Probably because it meant an end to the TMI series. Which, when I first finished the original trilogy a few years ago, hadn't been something I wanted. Too bad the writing quality of the next trilogy affected the story. It would've been much much better, if Ms Clare didn't keep deviating from the main plot. Which uh, I don't exactly remember anymore.

Oh, one more thing. It bothers me so much, that she added Emma and Julian and that whole gang into the story, and in the first chapter at that. I mean, really? Who the heck even were they? I had to check if I had gotten the right book! I remember being really pissed and thinking: Where the characters I bought this book to read about?

I get that Ms Clare wanted to introduce the characters of her next trilogy, but man, this is not how you do it. Now all she's done is make me feel biased about Emma and Julian. I don't like them, and I doubt I'll be able to read their story properly.

I was happy with how this wrapped up!!! Shadowhunters <3333!!!!

Again, I struggle with rating this book. I like it, I enjoy seeing all of the Jem moments, but not the best book in the series.

This book got off to a rocky start. I don't know what it was, but I just wasn't feeling the first 150ish pages. I kept reading because of Cassandra Clare. After reading Clockwork Princess, I knew Cassandra could pull this off. And she did. Jace became MY Jace again. No more mopey puppet Jace. Finally I saw the Jace that captured my attention in the first three books.

Let me just say how much I love Magnus. I just get happy every time I read about him. I was glad to be able to see the resolution of his and Alec's relationship. I wish there was more Magnus in this book, but considering the two question I had about him were answered, and he had his own series I really can't complain.

I admit I've never been a Simon fan. I just couldn't get behind his character. After reading this book I can't say he's my favorite, but I've stopped hating on him. I'd say that's progress.

Without giving away any spoilers I will say there was one character I was extremely happy to see again.

Even though I didn't like the beginning, there were more things in this book that I was happy about rather than sad/mad about, which is why I rated the book as high as I did. It was a good conclusion to the series. I just wish it wasn't over.

This was a fantastic way to end the series. Some may say that things wrapped up too nicely but I prefer tying up all the loose ends. More than the other books in the series this one really made more interested in characters other than Clary and Jace, which is good since their relationship has really run it's course.
