It is so sad that Jane didn’t finish this one. I mean - it was great, but I’m missing the long monologues from women and dialogues with the men as well. I just wish she would’ve finished it, because it has such a great potential.
Also Charles and Sam best characters.

I enjoyed this book. I am sad that Jane Austen never got to complete the novel. I would love to see how characters would grow in this novel. That is the one thing about her characters they always seem to find their flaw and become a better person by the end of the book. One example of charcter growth is Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice was prejudice against Mr. Darcy and believed they thought themselves better and for this she almost lost him. But he threw his pride aside and went to her.

The book does end with a family memeber sharing where Jane was hoping to take the book. With this information a few authors have tried to pick up where she stopped. I think I may put one of these books on my TBR list after reading some reviews to see who stays close Jane's writing style.

On to the next

4.5 It was great to enjoy the Austen style one more, having read all of her other novels, this was if not equal, as least close enough fulfillment of my Victorian novel reading thirst. The characters are likable and interesting enough, the dialogue perhaps the most compelling element of the novel...It was really a joy to read, although the ending was a bit rushed, but all in all, I recommend it to Austen enthusiasts.

I was really in for an Austen read, but I knew I'll be dissapointed with this one for it's so short.
I liked her other books better, but this has nothing to do with the fact I don't know its ending. Maybe because her wittyness and irony isn't so vivid here as in all her other books I've read.

I just loooved how subtle Austen is with Elizabeth's interest in Tom Musgrave. She really wasn't into him at all.. actually, her heart was the only one Tom didn't brokenot.
Her obsession with him is so obvious that I was shocked that the person that continued the book still went on about her first love, Purvis.. at least that's what I understood from her PS at the end of the book since I don't need a sequel to be interested in Austen's writing (this seems to be the reason there were sequels to the book: to attract Austen fans to read the book) so I haven't read Merryn Williams' part of the book.

Unfinished Jane Austen is still good Jane Austen. Too early to be able to predict what happens, but I LOVED the bickering between the parents. So witty and funny.

A solid start. It's a shame we only get a snippet of what we think Jane would have done with it.

Overall, I felt like Emma and her setting were more fleshed out and polished than Sanditon. I know neither of those were completed, so comparison is really futile.

I liked that Emma was the one who saw past Tom's charm when everyone is clearly drooling for him. She also stands up for her aunts decision, and seems alright knowing she lost out on inheritance. In fact, she judges her aunt more on her personality than an potential for monetary gain.

I would have loved to see Emma get courted, and Tom jilt a few more ladies.

The Watsons by Jane Austen was an unfinished work that John Coates completed. We follow four sisters and their father in the typically charming Jane Austen style. Emma, our main character, and her sisters meet some gentlemen at the first ball of the season. Throughout this time Emma, who has been living with her Aunt, finds that the rest of her family resents her for leaving. Romance, sibling rivalry, and more in this delightful classic.

This book is fresh and fun and brought a smile to my face as I was reading.
