I loved it, this was a very sweet and romantic story. It is about Megan hunter (the sister of the hero Marc Hunter from the third book in the series Unlawful Contact) and Nathaniel West a former Marine and currently a rancher.
You also get to see the protagonist from the previous books and how they are faring.
Megan and Nate have been through so much and they deserved some happiness in their lives. The book leaves you with a huge smile and a happy sigh.

This was a great novella. I loved getting to see Megan have her happily ever after. She went through so much previously and Nate was exactly the slow patient sort she needed to finally find a man she could trust. These two were very sweet. As with the rest of this series there was just enough suspense to keep things interesting, but this story is really more about the developing relationship between these two than the greater suspense mystery.

Very cute addition to the series. This book focuses on Megan, Marc's sister, and how she turns her life around after her ordeal in that book. She meets a wounded military veteran who saves her from an attack from her ex and the story develops from there.
It's a brief story, quick read for a lazy Saturday. The plot focuses on Megan and Nate, as well as the police's quest to find her ex who is trying to extort money from her. There's a bit of action, enough to satisfy Pamela's usual audience of romance-suspense readers. We also get to see a bit of Marc and Sophie, and even Julian. This story also introduces us to Nate's dad, Jack, who's quite a character and gets his own book later on. (As a side note, I loved Jack, but I don't think I liked him enough to read a romance about him. I'm sure it's a wonderful book, like all the others in the series.)
I was thinking of skipping it or leaving it for later, but I'm glad I ended up reading. Pamela is so talented, that she makes me love characters I hadn't really thought twice about before.

My Review:
This was an interesting story, not my favorite of the series, it kinda dragged a bit at times but I really liked the pairing. There was some confusion with how the narrator was describing the story so I was a bit confused at first in how they met. But once they settle together, it was really a lovely story. I loved the ranch setting, it being winter and Christmas and celebrating the season together. Pamela Clare delivered a solid story even if it wasn't her strongest, but it is a novella, so not all authors can handle these super well. But it was a sweet spicy romance that fans of suspense will love.

Loved this novella, glad to have Megan's story (finally!) Nate was a perfect match for the wounded Megan. And the short story at the end of the book staring all the husbands of I Team made me laugh so hard. Great story overall.

It's always good to get back to the I-Team world and it's finally Megan's turn to get some happiness in her life. She more than deserves it after her past that was filled with torture, pain and hopelessness (Unlawful Contact). She's trying to keep her life steady and stable for not only her own benefit but most importantly for her 4 year old daughter, Emily. But a man from Megan's past, Donny who's also Emily's father, knows she recently came into money from a settlement and starts threatening her for money. Megan turns first to her brother, Marc, for help and eventually finds herself at Nate West's ranch.
Nate West, a former Marine who was horribly scarred on one side of his body during an explosion, was in the right place at the right time when he first met and helped Megan during a run in with Donny. He gives her an open invitation to bring Emily to his ranch to see his horses any time she wants. Megan takes him up on his offer and heads to the ranch, only to be caught there for a few days during a snow storm. Nate, Megan, Emily and Nate's dad Jack all spend a few days getting to know each other, and relationships are formed start to heal Megan and Nate.
"When a man touches me, I feel...revulsion. I instantly feel sick to my stomach...What those men did to me - it's a part of me. I can't shake it."
(...)
"I'm sorry. If I'd known..." Nate's frown deepened. "Did I make you feel that way just now when I held you?"
"N-no." Warmth rushed to Megan's cheeks.
(...)
His gaze locked with hers. "And last night - when I kissed you?"
"No." She rushed to explain. "But we were interrupted, and I... I think maybe there just wasn't time for me to react."
Nate set his drink down on the coffee table. "Do you want to test that theory?"
Megan's heart took off at a sprint. "Wh-what do you mean?"
"I could kiss you again just like I did last night-soft and easy-and since we're not going to be interrupted this time, you'll be able to see whether that sense of revulsion kicks in. If it does, we stop."
"And if it doesn't?"
He gave her a lopsided grin. "We'll know you just needed to kiss the right man."
Nate and Megan are both dealing with issues that are keeping them from moving forward and living life. Nate has a hard time letting people get close, especially women. He doesn't come across a lot of people who are able to look past his skin and really see him. Megan does that from the start - she truly sees Nate for the man that he is and looks at his scars as signs of his courage, nothing more or less. It felt incredibly emotional to read from Nate's POV because he was finally able to just be himself and feel accepted.
For Megan, she has a hard time touching men, which is understandable due to a past that was filled with abuse and having people she thought she could trust turn their backs on her. She's only ever had Marc and now she's trying to be a good mom to Emily, but she can't imagine ever feeling comfortable enough around a man to be with him, kiss him, have sex, get married. These are all things that she never dreamed of. Nate knows her entire past and like he tells Megan, "...Who you were then is not who you are now, and I'm interested in the woman you are today." Even though their story takes place over the course of a little more than a week, their romance and the progression of it worked. They went from simple kisses that rocked Megan completely, to a sweet sex scene that allowed them both to let go of the past and think about what a future together could be like.
Little Emily and Jack were so sweet! Emily is so adorable and her random comments and actions had me smiling every time she came on page. Nate's dad Jack was also a great character to get to know. He balanced out the family and I enjoyed his talks with Nate. The I-Team men show up briefly and it doesn't take much from them to have me laughing out loud. Just the thought of a criminal trying to kick Julian, or Marc being the protective older brother, it's the little moments with these men that pack a big punch.
This short story reads well as a stand-alone, but if you're not familiar with the I-Team series, all the books are definitely worth a read. I enjoyed seeing Megan get her happy ending and I fell in love with another hero that Pamela Clare brought us. Nate is a strong man who comes alive when he finds a woman that loves him, scars and all. I loved getting to know this couple and seeing them get their happy ending.

Starting the year with a five-star book. Of course it would be five ⭐ it's Pamela's book we are talking about. Everything this woman writes I will immediately buy it and read it. The only thing I didn't like about this one is that it is TOO SHORT. I need more - I WANT MORE. Short, but full of emotions, ahh, it was so good. Two broken souls, chasing their monsters and curing each other's hearts and scars. Sexy, protective ex-marine, with scars and "gruff exterior" but in fact big softie with an even bigger heart full of insecurities. I freakin love it when the book has "kissing his/her scars" trope! Its just melts my heart. The tenderness, the gentleness, the soft kisses and touches! Ahhh... Nate wanting to have one person to look at him and love him despite all his scars, to accept him just the way he is, and Megan wanting someone to love her unconditionally with all of her monsters from the past. Match made in heaven. Megan kissing his scars, proving to him that he is just as lovable! I'm melting and blushing even while writing this.
Megan and Emily deserve the world. I love it when older men (for example - Jack, in this one) have a soft heart for little kids. Emily had Jack wrapped around her little finger, and he loved it.
I WAS SWOONING, GIGGLING, BLUSHING SO HARD IN THIS ONE. EVERYBODY was here. Darcangelo, McBride, Mark... it was so nice to see them again, sexy, strong, head over heels for their women and swoon-worthy... like always.
+ this book will make you wish you had a big, wooden house, in the middle of а forest, with endless, gorgeous meadows, a small farm and to ride horses all day, every day. ❤️

I enjoyed the I-Team. Megan and Nate are a great couple and loved them finding each other. Jack (Nate's dad), Emily, and Marc are great too. I found myself wondering if the I-Team crew may have some time gotten to know my beloved KA Rock Chicks, Hot Bunch, Dream Men, Chaos people that also run around Denver :). The bonus beer run was fun too!
