Pretty good read, but one star minus, because Lucy was intolerable in the first part of the book, and Justin - in the second one.

At the beginning the reading was pretty quick and sometimes enjoyable, especially the scenes between Lucy and Justin where she couldn't stand him and he always tries to get her attention. But then, it started to get a bit boring from where Lucy discovers Zach cheating on her with Marissa. Lucy begins to be a bit boring and sometimes annoying, even with her parents. At this point I was ready to give up reading, but then I wanted to know how her relationship with Justin goes on, but I couldn't enjoy it as much as the first part anymore, even if I loved the dialogue between Lucy and her mother in the very last chapter.

This was ya, but I loved it. It's nice to see character developing. It's nice to read about love that isn't insta-love. At some points things were predictable, but nevertheless story just kept me going.

I really loved this book. It was really sweet but also had some serious issues such as bullying and depression. The character of Marissa reminds me so much of a girl I was friends with in high school - YUCK! I loved Lucy and Justin. I really wish this book would've had an epilogue or something - I really liked all the characters and would love to know what happens to them after summer. Really sweet book! Looking forward to reading more by this author!

Easy read YA romance book. Lucy the main character is a 16 years old girl who struggles with herself and her family. Justin the love interest is seemingly the opposite of that.

2 stars - very juvenile, no character depth

Love love LOVE this book!! The author effortlessly brought me back to being a teenager. The characters were easy to relate to and fall in love with :) My only disappointment is the fact that its over!! Great YA summer read!! Kudos to you, Lizzy!!

This was a perfect book.
I mean, at first it was difficult for me to understand Lucy and sometimes I wanted to slap her. But as the story starts to unravel, you see why she is the way she is.
I felt for her and her family, it must be so difficult to go through something like that.
Lastly Justin, I'm deeply in love with him, and the Reason behind the Lady got me swooning.

The blurb doesn't do this book justice. There's so much more going on here than girl falls for "unattainable" boy she can't possibly win. Underlying plot points surrounding bullying and mental illness make this a book I would gladly hand off to my high school students.

Worth your time.

Interesting read. It took me a bit to warm up to Lucy, but I think that's b/c she was more real teenager and less literary teenager (ie she had issues with her parents and still behaved unreasonably to my adult mind). But she grew up in the story, and it was believable and I rooted for her the whole way. It was really more of a coming of age book, with only a side note of romance. Not sure what I was expecting, but I guess it was different from whatever was going through my head. Touched on some really diverse topics, from bullying to post-partum depression. And fairly well done with all of that. My heart ached for Lucy and the way she saw herself in the world and the conclusions (sometimes false) that she came to from the way she was treated by others. All in all, I came out having cried a bit, having rooted for the heroine, and having a smiley fest for the ending.
