From the description I didn't think I'd like this but I actually really enjoyed it. The world building was really good, and I feel like I was torn about who the real villain was. It was pretty complex and thought-provoking. The only thing that bothered me a little bit was the ending seemed a little TOO convenient.

This book was such a banger, im so gassed to read the second one. It's truly comforting knowing there's no silly little filler middle book for this series. I like me a nice time respecting duology from time to time. The characters in this book are so nicely fleshed out, our main girl Tarisai, what a queen. I love the little romance subplot in this book aswell, it's so cute.

Just a nice well rounded, well written ya fantasy for you, that is criminally underrated in my opinion.

I don’t even know if i’ll be able to put to words how much I loved this book. If i could give a book more stars it would be this one. This is the first book i’ve read since crooked kingdom that made me feel so attached to the characters and storyline.

Jordan Ifueko is fantastic. Her world building is probably one of the best i’ve ever read. The plot was so interesting I couldn’t stop reading.

I swear i am not going to stop shoving the book down people’s throats until everyone reads it. because it’s just fantastic.
