Another Darling brother, another hit! The way these two DESPISED each other and fought their attraction…..ugh so good! This double bi-awakening was epic, with both MMC in their late 30’s and queer friendly, there was no turmoil about sexuality, only the subject of the sexual interest!
I just know this series is going to rival Plum Valley Cowboys. Emmy has included the most effortless story with so many incredible characters. I adore the use of ASL throughout the book and love how inclusive the Darling’s are.
Thank-you to Emmy for providing me an ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
I loved this book so much, I was really excited about this story from the moment I finished book 1, and I was really not disappointed. I’m ready to read it again so soon !!! And I need more cowboy romance for sure !!
Colton and Noah are rivals as farriers in the town of Darling, and let’s be honest, the tension is off the charts with these two !! They really hate each other for some reason in addition of being concurrent and stealing each others jobs, and it’s time to finally state who is the best farrier - love some honest competition. From that moment, it just goes more and more between them, it escalates differently, especially after the first kiss and damn Colton is just something and I loved it !!! There is fire, sweetness, dominance, fights and anything that makes sparks between Colton and Noah.
As I said, I just loved it, I devoured the book, I couldn’t stop reading, and as soon as the paperback is up, I will read it again !!
I received an ARC Copy of this book Gay Romance Review, this review is from my own thoughts 😍
I just love these Darling Brothers!
Brim over Boot is the second in Emmy Sander’s Darling Brother series. This book follows Colton Darling and Noah King as they go from enemies to lovers. The tension in the book is great and there are many laugh out loud moments which I adored (🥕🥕). The way Noah just knows what Colton needs is very swoon worthy.
The length of the book that it took Colton to come to terms with everything was a smidge long for my liking BUT I loved reading about him accepting himself and his relationship with Noah.
I’ve read many cowboy books, but I think this is the first where it’s all about farriers. I found this aspect of the book fascinating and now I want to go to a Shoein’!!!
Of course Emmy does a fantastic job of teasing us with tidbits of who the next book will be about and I cannot wait for Lawson’s next!
When it was teased that something happened in their past, I had a feeling their animosity started from miscommunication. This part frustrated me a bit BUT their enemies to lovers tension was excellent, so I looked past it.

Oh my god, I am UNWELL. I shouldn't be surprised, but this one snuck up on me. BRIM OVER BOOT was fantastic.
I'll be the first to admit that enemies to lovers is not my go-to genre. But Colt and Noah were damn enjoyable to read. From the beginning, you could see that Noah was under Colt's skin, and I was so here for when things started happening. And lord did they!
Their love story is packed full of humor, rivalry, ridiculousness, and miscommunication/misunderstanding. They're idiots, your honor.
But they're also SWEETHEARTS. Colt's struggle and fight along with Noah's possessiveness and patience. It's swoony over here!
I loved seeing the Darling family again and meeting Walter. AND the Darling donkey cameo! I will die for Remington, if necessary.
I could go chapter by chapter listing everything I loved about this one because Colt and Noah were just that good!
BRIM OVER BOOT is out May 22nd. You still have time to read (or reread) book one, Sweet Like Whiskey. That's probably what I'll start tomorrow because I loved Ash & Jackson's story. But I digress, don't miss out on BRIM OVER BOOT. It's got touches of D/s and marking, if that'll tempt you. 😉😉😉

Brim over Boot by Emmy Sanders
I got extremely lucky and got an ARC. The book comes out 22nd of May!
Rivals to lovers... and not just a moment. The tension and snark remains throughout atleast 80% of the book. That doesn't mean that the spice isn't happening, because it is and ooohhh myyyyy it is HOT. Manhandling, begging and with plenty of praises. Noah is a very possessive cowboy. Colt wants to surrender, but how can he give up the fight?
My heart is mushy for these men.
TROPES:
℧ Cowboys
℧ Hate/rivalry to love
℧ Double queer awakening
℧ Throat 'hugs'
℧ What are you doing with that carrot 🥕?
℧ One horse
Emmy Sanders paints the scenery so well. I loved my stay at the Darling Ranch. I can't wait for Lawson and Remi their stories.

I received an ARC of Brim Over Boot by Emmy Sanders from @gay.romance.reviews and was so excited to read this!
This is the second book in the Darling Brother’s Series and after being introduced to Colton Darling and his rival Noah King in book one, I needed their story.
This was an elite enemies to lovers story, Colton and Noah are rival farriers and the hatred and rivalry between these two is real!
Colton has an obsession with Noah and cannot seem to let it go, it often manifests is hilarious ways. The tension is palpable throughout this story, I loved their banter and chemistry as they navigated their new found attraction to each other.
I absolutely adored Noah King, what a beautiful soul, his relationship with his uncle, his backstory made my heart ache. Noah could read Colton so well dispite his struggle and protests. Noah was possessive and patient and knew exactly what Colton needed. I was so curious as to how and why he and Colton became enemies in the first place, oh and it hit when we found out the reason.
This story had so many heartwarming, swoony, sweet and funny moments, the town events were a highlight, as were every member of the Darling family. I adore them all, especially Remi and I cannot wait to read the next instalment!

This is enemies-to-lovers done right. The hate between Colton and Noah felt real and the tension was palpable. Emmy Sanders’ writing is better than ever in this book, the details, the story, the characters, the families…I felt like I was right there in Darling with all of them.
I loved the banter, the obsession, the rivalry, but most of all, I loved the feelings. Once Colton and Noah started to truly understand each other, I was smitten. They’re just adorable together! I’m really enjoying this series so far and I can’t wait for Remi’s book because he’s my favourite!

Gah, I LOVED this book so much! It’s probably my favorite book I read this month! BRIM OVER BOOT revolves around Colton Darling; Darling, Montana’s number one farrier! And he’s hated Noah King, the town’s second best farrier for as long as he could remember.
They’re constantly competing with each other and after Colton sees Noah excessively advertising his services, he drives to Noah’s house to confront him. The last thing he expected was for Noah to kiss him — and he actually liked it!
Colton leaves confused and from that moment on, he can’t stop thinking about Noah. Noah has always gotten under his skin, but now he makes his skin light on fire!
Another confrontation leads to more and now they both find it hard to stay away from each other. As they spend more time together, Colton finds that he hates Noah less and less.
OMG, this book was *chef’s kiss!* All of the angst and tension was perfection; the book was peak enemies to lovers! The banter was so amazing as well! Loved everything about the book and especially loved that Remi got a lot of screen time. I absolutely can’t wait for Remi’s book (?!?), Saddle to Sunup, coming December 2025! 5⭐️
Thanks so much, Emmy, for the eARC in exchange for my honest review! 💕
At this point I can't be surprised that I loved this book, because Emmy's books have been nothing short of amazing and beautiful so far. Sweet Like Whiskey was my favorite book of 2024 and while that one is still my favorite Emmy Sanders book, Brim Over Boot is a very close second.
With more beautiful writing, loveable characters, and a stunning enemies/rivals-to-lovers romance, this book delivered exactly what I hoped it would and more. I absolutely fell in love with Colton and Noah. I don't really want to say much more because I feel everyone should go into these books as blind as possible. They're stunning and 100% must-read MM romances. So go check it out as soon as you can!
