I can actually imagine a British politician in 2024 reading this and thinking it's a good idea.

3.5 roasted babies out of 5

What a fascinating essay, it’s really ingenious in my opinion. Swift catches your attention by using a satirical form of political satire to draw you in, while all the time criticizing all sorts of different things: The Irish government, the Royalty of Ireland, the general pubic, and poverty levels. He does it all under the appalling guise of a man who’s solution to the ever growing number of poverty ridden people in the nation is to fatten up the poor’s kids and then made them into a new delicacy for the upper class to dine on. He uses proposed stats and theory to explain why his viewpoint should be taken seriously. I had to re-read this essay and look up summaries and analysis’s to understand it. It all connects. Written all the way back in 1729, and it wasn’t the least bit boring.

A satirical proposal to butcher a percentage of 1 year old children and then sell them as meat in order to ease the issue of poverty in Ireland. Seriously, don't let that description turn you off. This was a quick and clever read.

If I make a Hannibal joke would it but only add to his satirical humor or would it be undermining the point
