Reread of an old book, but it’s still good. The CS Lewis book on reading got me in the mood for it. A collection of essays from the Library of Congress’s magazine (which I didn’t even know about!) on books and reading, and they’re all very homey and relatable for book lovers. (I’d probably rank this one above the CS Lewis one, because it’s a bit more of a book, as opposed to a collection of quotes.)

Essays for every lover of books and words to savour!

This was super witty. I feel like any lifelong book lover would enjoy this. Some of the literary rants, I mean essays, that the author presents are similar to thoughts I have had.

This collection of essays is a must read for anyone who loves books and reading. The stories are perfectly written and relatable even tho it's clear I have little in commons with the author. I very much enjoyed them and was drawn in by the author, wishing I could sit down and chat about books with her over a stack of catalogues and some tea.

Pure delight & rapture. Feel not alone in my love of books and reading. Funny, touching, enlightening. A must buy and a must give to my fellow bibliophiles. Renewed a commitment to reading, books esp, over all other forms of entertainment.

This book met its target audience. It’s an ode to books and family, and multiple times had me going, like that old C S Lewis quote, ‘What? You too?’ (with the exception of the chapter on grammar, about which my education was, and I suspect will remain, scanty). It is a compliment to say that you can tell she writes for magazines. These are exactly the style of articles I enjoy, readable and not at all dry for all that they are nonfiction.
