The highest praise I think I can give to this absolute joy of a book is that I read the e-book, and I am ordering the actual physical book to keep! There are just so many nuggets of wisdom that I want to highlight and return to, that this one is a keeper for the shelf.
I listened to this on audio, and then would go home and reread some parts that I thought were very powerful in the physical book. I'm going to buy a copy for myself to own because I want to have some of the passages available to reread over and over again.

This is a lovely collection of stories & hope! I really enjoyed reading it!
It was really good.
I found it interesting and.... comforting.
The contents were a little basic, and he did the same cringey repetition of words over, over, over - that he did in [b:The Midnight Library|52578297|The Midnight Library|Matt Haig|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1602190253l/52578297._SY75_.jpg|74043794], but it was good enough.
Contained a shocking amount of Buddhism teachings in it too!
2.9/5

I started this book during an extremely, extremely difficult period of my life, and have been coming back to it and savouring it for months. Unfortunately, this period is not over yet, and it is beyond my control to know when it finally will be. Sometimes these bad moments in our lives last for months, but as Matt Haig says in this book, we have to remember that it’s not forever, that “there will be other days, and other feelings.”
I really enjoyed this book and I do not agree with the criticism it has received at all. Matt Haig doesn’t claim to be your personal therapist or to be able to fix all your life problems. He is just sharing with the reader personal tips and reflections to make the reader feel a little bit better. I read a little bit of this everyday and felt a little bit better everyday. Just a little.
The book is a bit repetitive but it’s okay, it’s not a cohesive narrative and it makes sense that he would return to the same concepts, to provide a different perspective or to expand more on those. Unfortunately healing takes time and massive life changes, but getting the comfort of this book helped me to feel less lonely and to remind me that I am not the only one who will feel and will ever feel like this. This itself is a massive reassurance and I wouldn’t have come to certain conclusions had it not been for this book.
Particularly recommended to anyone who, like me, is going through a bit of a hard time and is trying to come out of it on its own, self-help can be tough but we will make it.

Meh. This nonfiction book reads like random journal entries consisting of the author’s positive affirmations and is often repetitive.
I have liked Matt Haig’s fiction (The Midnight Library and The Humans read and due to get How to Stop Time from the library any day) but this just wasn’t for me. I’m all for journaling and positive affirmations and I’m sure this book will resonate with many readers but for me personally, I will get more out of putting my own thoughts on paper when I feel sad or anxious. Generous 3 stars for me.
