Flower Shields is the first book in the Four Horsemen series by C.A King. I have read all of Ms. Kings books now, and this one is among my favourites of hers. I loved the premise of the story and enjoyed reading Ms. King’s take and twist on the four horsemen myth. This is a very creative and individual urban fantasy that has gods, demons, good vs evil, mystery, suspense, action, drama, and supernatural elements.
The characters are superb- fully developed, interesting and likeable- who grew and developed as the story progressed, Tara most of all.
This is a very imaginative, unique and well written story. The author has a very dynamic style, with detailed descriptions and rich, vibrant scene setting. Through her words we are transported into the story and experience it along with the characters. Ms. King has produced an entirely captivating read. I wasn’t sure whether I’d enjoy it as much as some of her other books, but I am happy to say that Ms. King definitely didn’t disappoint, and I loved how she crafted the story and brought all the various elements together, weaving them into a story that held my attention from beginning to end.
I really liked this story am very intrigued by the promise it holds for the rest of the series. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of this series. Bring on Book two!
Thank you, Ms. King!

Flower Shields (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 1) by C.A. King

This is my second book by this author and I loved it as much as I did the first one I read. Creative writing at its finest!! This storyline was awesome and was fun to read, the characters and how they all interacted with each other made me smile and sometimes LOL. I never knew from one page to the next what was going to happen with Tara but I knew she was in trouble, and I loved Michael and even though he didn't understand why he was supposed to protect her, he did.
I loved the prologue, it all made sense somehow, usually i get lost in the beginning and it takes me awhile to understand what's going on while reading this genre, but this author's words were written perfectly and I never had to go back to figure something out.
I can't wait for the rest in this series, I'm really looking forward to each of the Horse”men”s stories, and also Im thinking theres a whole lot more to Dante that is left to be discovered. I see him showing up quite a bit in what's to come.
Excellent Book, I love this authors style and will not only be watching for the next in this series but also everything else this author has available.
Loved It!!!

Flower Shields is the first book in the A Horsemen Series by C.A. King. I enjoy reading C.A.’s work because she is famous for putting her own refreshing twists on many a folk lore or legend and making them her own. Flower Shields is a biblical twist with demigods and demons in a modern world. I love a good fantasy, paranormal, supernatural, romantic and fabled story and this book definitely delivers on all fronts and certainly does not disappoint. The story and plot is well thought out and comes at your thick and fast and you will find yourself cursing because it will be over far too fast. I enjoyed our main characters, Tara and Michael and their relationship is fun to read and had me laughing, especially from Michaels point of view. They both come from very different backgrounds but share more than they realise. I liked that the story was lighthearted and unpredictable and I love a good guessing game when it comes to books. I am looking forward to reading the stories of the other characters in this series. I enjoy reading these refreshing and original concepts by C.A.

I wasn’t sure what I would encounter when I began reading this book. However I was pleasantly surprised. Well paced and developed. I enjoyed it and found it difficult to put down before I finished reading it in full.

Flower Shields was an unexpected diversion, but one that did not disappoint. Filled with lore about the foundations of the world, the author’s musings at the fore of the book planted the seed that grew into a spiraling complexity of flowers and thorns alike. Michael was a surprising character, less than I always imagined him to be; yet so much more! A well spun out tale that is imaginative and bold, it is filled with layers that keep you turning page after page, and kept me up later and later! Perhaps the best thing I can say is that I was intrigued AND entertained…and, to me, that’s all I ever truly ask from an author.

I have to say I was not initially attracted to the idea of four angels romance and boy, was I wrong.
CA King has taken an old and gruesome biblical tale and breathed new life into it, from the oddest and most enjoyable of perspectives. It features a tale of the four horsemen, but not as you’ve ever seen them before. The hero is Michael, who just wants to do his job, and do it well. When he runs into the disillusioned but hopeful Tara sparks don’t fly, its petals. You can’t ask without reading it!
Though I was perplexed at some of the lackluster responses of characters, and a few typos, King kept me amused with bushels of roses to be used as bludgeons and turning tropes upside down.
A great read, and I loved what she’s done.
