I'm impressed at how much this book was literally just a self insert "ooo I'm a sexy serial killer" fanfic. Genuinely. If you want to read about BDSM sex scenes and murder then this is the book for you. Actually couldn't stop reading due to how much of a train wreck this was. The main characters Bria and Eli do not act like normal, rational human beings. At ALL. The majority of this book was literally just porn, Bria and Eli cannot keep themselves together.

A list of 10 flaws:
1. the main character Bria is the thinnest, smartest, hottest, best girl ever and even her flaw (she is a serial killer & severely mentally ill) ends up being "sexy"
2. Eli is a fucking idiot: he doesn't bother to do his job which is HELP THIS GIRL WITH HER THESIS and instead literally just pretends to listen (although atleast Bria is annoyed by that)
3. they just fuck???? all the time???? everywhere?????
4. she has access to copious amounts of chemicals??? enough to dissolve bodies???? AND YET she's not on any FBI watch lists...????
5. "it's just the writers' power fantasy" - my boyfriend
6. it's said she works out for 2 hours a day EVERY DAY but we like barely ever hear about that? she goes swimming and running but like. that's not daily so
7. the following:
"She slides onto a chair several tables away, facing me but angled toward the window, and I catch myself before I audibly moan."
SORRY WHAT. This, for context, IS THE FIRST MEETING. THEY HAVE NOT MET BEFORE. HE IS OGLING ANG MOANING OVER HER. IN A COFFEE SHOP. JESUS CHRIST.
8. every time Bria is described (she's every good characteristic ever)
9. eli suddenly like. turns wild bad boy and is like no don't hurt my gf ill beat you up??????? like he just goes for it????? crazy
10. the epilogue - he "gives" her a man to kill as a wedding present. he is okay with her killing??? he literally goes it's okay babe, you're just a little quirky... have this kill kit and go at 'em hahahaha WHAT
bonus: 11. THEY GET MARRIED IN UNDER A YEAR

Overall, can't believe I got my boyfriend to spend £10 on a shitty sex book. Embarrassed.

This book was honestly, so good Bria, I love her, one of the most bad ass women I’ve ever read and to see how she functions and how she got Dr. Kaplan to open up to release his beast. amazing and book got spicy like the sex was crazy This book took me way longer than I wanted to with reading it because I started school but I finally finished it and it was just amazing

Not quite butcher and the blackbird but really freaking good and compelling. Why are the serial killer romances so good?

This story is what you get after drinking 20 cups of coffee and popping a viagra. I could not tell you what this book was about even if my life depended on it. All I know is there’s a cult (with no background), and a student/teacher trope with a lot of pent up sexual frustration. I think I DNF’d this book right after Bria and Eli’s two-word conversation on the bridge when they were both mentally undressing one another IMMEDIATELY rather than thinking and acting like normal human beings. On top of that, I constantly felt like I was walking into the middle of an A & B conversation and that I should C my way out of it. It’s fine when books discuss things without introductions – to a certain extent. But this… I had no idea what the fuck they were talking about half the time.
When I saw that Brynne Weaver was the co-author, I was SO excited because I absolutely adored Butcher & Blackbird, but this felt like a story you’d write on an off day. Basically, this contained a lot of words on a page… and that was it. Womp womp.

I don't even know where to start with this one. Everything about it was fantastic. Bria is calculating, cold, and clever - Eli is dark, dominating, and devious. They're a match made in perfect darkness.

Bria is hunting her past before it can consume her, and she's had her mentor, Samuel, since he found her in the desert. Eli has been looking for the head of a cult that's even abusing women for decades. Bria soon finds that their goals are a bit more similar than she thought. Except for she's still killing targets and Eli is gathering information.

The darkness that Bria And Eli recognize in one another is primal and completely off the charts hot. Once they cross the line, it is the sexiest freaking story line I think I've ever read, and I had to question myself a little bit in what I liked there for a minute haha. The spice scenes were electric, and so much deeper than just surface level spice.

That's what I loved about this book, it went seamlessly from a serial killer to a romance, to an investigation, interweaving back through each to make this beautiful web of a story, and the characters really grow and are able to be seen by each other and by us as the reader.
