4.5 stars. *so* close to 5 but i didn't love the ending.
Also, this is the book where the purple prose really started bothering me. I felt like I skimmed a lot of the book without losing the plot because of how much unnecessarily flowery writing there was.

The whole series is stunning. A really good ending in that you feel like you’re leaving the characters’ timeline with some closure but with journeys yet ahead for the characters. It’s not tied up in a pretty bow but better for it. Good.
I'M WRECKED...but in a good way. I want more! In true Laini Taylor fashion there is a beautiful though not fully satisfying ending, if only because I want another book full of those amazing characters I have felt so much for. I loved the new characters that were introduced and their depth, rivalries, and victories were written so well that it didn't matter that they didn't exist in the previous books. I screamed through many parts when the anticipation and tension were so great I could feel it like mist against my skin. I will forever be in awe of the skill it takes to create such a well developed and lush universe. This will definitely be a series I re-read in the future.
I don't know what to say about this one. I didn't write a review on the other two, so maybe I will come up with something for all three in this review.
