So let me get this straight: our gen-z high school girl character would never use her cellphone to make a phone call(who does that anymore!), but she has no idea what a deep fake is? And when her best friend uses hyperbole, I’m supposed to believe she just thinks her friend is just using the word ‘literally’ incorrectly? I’m making a formal request for grown adults to stop trying to condescend the next generation through literature.
This book also lost points for inserting a whole section about how FBI work isn’t like it is on TV because agents don’t just spend all their time tracking serial killers one paragraph before the FBI agent spends all her time tracking down a serial killer.
I give it a C- for poor construction and an insufferably transparent plot.

Every Last Fear begins when NYU student Matt Pine receives the news that his parents and two younger siblings have all died while on a vacation in Mexico. This is just the latest in a tragedy filled life for Matt. Several years earlier, his older brother, Danny, was accused and convicted of murdering his girlfriend. Matt and Danny’s father was never convinced that Danny was guilty, and traveled to Mexico to try to find evidence of Danny’s innocence.
I enjoyed this novel, especially the family dynamics. I liked the FBI agent working the case, and I liked Matt and his friends. I had a sneaking suspicion as to the outcome of the story, but not the motive behind the conclusion. I look forward to reading more from Alex Finlay.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Every Last Fear was a fantastic mystery book to dive into. Not sure why it took me so long to finally pick it up but I wasn't disappointed after the prologue. Honestly, I devoured this book and it wasn't hard to do so either. It was pretty hard to walk away from the book but I somehow found a way to eat dinner pretty quickly just so I could go back to the book.

The one thing I really needed was answers. Like, seriously, I needed them. This entire book had me questioning every little thing and every single person. Not going to lie, I had zero suspects until the very end of the book. Which is when I found out who was behind it all.

What I can say is... my mind is blown. This whole entire thing was so freaking good. The twists, turns, and POVs kept me on the edge of my seat. Once I started getting closer to the end, things were starting to get hard to read. Especially when I got to certain POVs. My heart was hurting and I just felt so bad.

In the end, this book needs to be on everyone's mind and shelves. Enjoy the mystery people.
