This is a cute, short Christmas story. It is all about new beginnings and the importance of loved ones.

On Thanksgiving, Melissa's husband tells her he wants to end their marriage - and that she must move out so his girlfriend can move in…

As it happens, Melissa receives a letter stating she inherited a house in Scotland. She decides to visit with the hope of fixing up the home to live there. On her travels, she meets Colin, who happens to be her husband's lawyer. He is from Scotland and is going back for a visit.

Melissa and Colin keep encountering each other as Colin's family is very active in the community. As Melissa thinks about the future, she keeps envisioning Scotland… and Colin.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a super cute Novella. Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I didn’t realize this was a novella but I enjoyed reading it. I was hesitant at first but once the story picked up I couldn’t put it down. The characters were lovable and the plot, although short was a sweet, holiday story. I would have loved to read this as a full novel and I’m looking forward to the sequel. I read this during my kids’ nap time. If you’re strapped for time, but want a holiday romance, this title will give you the fix you’re looking for.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the eARC.

A fun and quick read filled with lots of Scottish culture and language. My Nan was from Scotland so it was nice to read a book filled with things she would say or foods she would cook. Because it was a novella it was quicker paced than other holiday books I’ve read and sometimes felt rushed but overall it was a fun read with some laughs along the way and cozy holiday vibes. I would love to visit Scotland and spend a Christmas looking for Nessie and watching some Highland Games for sure.

I received a copy of the ebook through Netgalley and the author in exchange for my honest review.

It’s Thanksgiving and Melissa MacKenzie’s husband has just told her that he’s leaving her for another woman and wants a divorce and the house, and she has no idea what she’s going to do. But then a letter arrives telling her she’s inherited a house in Scotland. So she immediately packs her bags to go check it out. Once in Scotland, she begins reconnecting with her Scottish roots and celebrates the Christmas season with new friends, including her husband’s very good-looking divorce lawyer who just happens to be visiting family in the very village she’s in.

A lot of the Christmas books I’ve read this season are just set at Christmas time and include a few festive activities. This book really captures the season. The author described the setting in Scotland so well and it was really fun celebrating with Melissa as she learned all the festive Scottish customs.

I received a copy of this via NetGalley.

Oh my. Unfortunately, the only thing I enjoyed about this book was Scotland. There was too much telling and not enough showing, feeling. I didn't buy into the dialogue at all. Very static. There was no indication as to how these statements were spoken.

"The driver began driving," was a full sentence, and most of the book read like this. Melissa is used 471 times in the 128 page ebook. Too many Melissas.

Somehow the two MCs end up together even though there was very little interaction and even less dialogue.

Melissa. My girl. So many poor, not at all thought through decisions, made in a VERY short amount of time.

This was not good. I received an ARC from NetGalley and love a good holiday story. This was just not great. The main character moves to Scotland the day after her husband asks for a divorce after receiving a letter that she’s the next of kin to a long lost relative and she’s inherited a house. She LETS HERSELF INTO SAID HOUSE and starts spending money on upkeep and working on it and then is surprised when she gets evicted. Hard pass.

Super cute Christmas story. It was a super fun and fast read, perfect to read inbetween 2 longer books and perfect for this time of year. I loved the setting of the story.
