DID NOT FINISH

 pseudoscience bs

I wanted to like this book more than I did. I did find it interesting but as others have pointed out it has lots of parts that diverge from the topic, with descriptions of the people/researchers which I didn't find necessary. There also wasn't referencing within the chapters of where readers could find information relating to research and events done in the book. I know there are practical breathing exercises at the back of the book but I thought that the book would have more practical tips throughout the book other than breathe through your nose, which is something that I have always done. It seemed more like a memoir of Nestor's experiences learning more about breathing, which is great if that's what you'd like to read about, but isn't what I thought it would be when I read the blurb.
informative medium-paced

sko margt gott. margt sniðugt og merkilegt, annað smáá svona hmm... hefði verið til í fleiri heimildir á punktum, en ýmislegt samt gott og fær mann til að hugsa. alls ekki allt bull, en sumt smá bull

3.6 It was cool how the contents validated so many religions and drew parallels. There are actually breathing techniques at the end that you can try. A lot of it is pseudo science but there are experiments and research to back the gist of it all. Definitely a field and topic I’m curious to know more about.
informative

Well researched

I put down the book a lot—often to try the methods detailed—so I the long time it took to get through the book puts me on the fence about how well written the book was in a narrative sense. Rather, I gave it 5⭐️ because I think it’s a really important book. I’ve had so many strange experiences with meditation and breath work that were profound but hard to explain. For anyone who feels too rooted in being ‘evidence based’ to consider the benefits of structured breathing techniques—simply because they usually come from a spiritual direction (inevitably yoga)—give this a read before labeling something like opposite nostril breathing hokey.
