Unfortunetly, my library only had the audiobook for this and I think it would be a lot easier to follow if I could read it. I liked that all of the narrators were clearly very biased and it read like poetry in many places. Unfortunetly, I found myself getting a bit lost with the audiobook.

I think Faulkner just had a way of making the most mundane or odd scene feel both so intensely important and relatable. Wonderful prose, I really enjoyed this.

Listening it was sometimes hard to remember which character I was listening to, but I really liked this story and all the more or less unlikable characters.

I think I wanted to like this more than I did. I can overlook the language, and the shifting narrator doesn't bother me (and I enjoyed Addie's chapter), but it was Anse's absolute stubbornness that drove me crazy. I could go a long time without hearing, "I won't be beholden to none," again.

this book stupid as hell

so, i'm not sure if i liked this book enough to rate it 4 stars? which i guess is weird, since i just rated it 4 stars, but let me explain.when i first read it, i would probably have rated it a 3 or 2.5. i liked the story, but faulkner's writing made me want to personally throw as i lay dying into the fiery pits of hell. but then mr. klein (my ap lang teacher) explained the writing, and my brain was like, "magic." so now i have to rate it 4 stars out of sheer respect for faulkner's brilliance, but i'm not sure if i liked it as much as i liked other books i rated 4 stars?hey, at least i get to say i read faulkner and thought he was brilliant like a pretentious snob. thanks for that, mr. klein.

I listened to this one rather than reading it with my eyes. That proved to be both a help and a hindrance at times, I think. I will need to think over this book for a while. At any rate, I did very much enjoy it.
