Another excellent read. Gin is finally coming into her powers. Watch out Mab!

Skipped fairly large chunks of it because it was at turns boring and salacious. It could be so much better...it's an interesting concept, but the author insists on ruining it with poor or repetitive word and phrase crafting, and interludes of unnecessary, distracting, and uncomfortable romanticism. I found I was able to skip sections without losing anything, and probably only actually read two-thirds or less of the book. She must be paid by the word, as noire fiction writers in decades past were.

This was a fun read, but for a relatively low complexity plot line it took a long time to get to the resolution and we seemed to dwell a lot on the characters backstory. The author consistently took the main character’s narrative into flashbacks or moments of reflection. Generally speaking I love a good backstory but I got more than a little bored of her’s. Also I find the Donovan Caine story less than compelling. He’s boring, boy, bye.

An assassin with Stone and Ice magic...what's not to like? I'm really enjoying this series.

I don't know whether I want to continue with this series or not. There are plenty of series I regret sticking with (Anita Blake for one) but I feel a strange compulsion of always finishing what I start.
I'm still struggling to have an opinion on Gin I neither like her or dislike her. On the plus side I do like Finn and Owen has me all curious and hopefully Donovan won't come back

I really enjoyed this (even more than Spider's Bite), it's face paced and fun. Gin is still kicks and a bit insane/sociopath but we really get to see more of her character, the conflict with Donovan really helps define her for the reader (not that I actually like Donovan as a romantic interest). I also felt like Gin's character was more cohesive- in Spider's Bite it seemed weird that she went to such pains to point out that everybody she killed was a 'baddie' when she is apparently a cold blooded killer, but in Web of Lies I understood more of her motivations for her decisions.

The world is really interesting, I feel like the magic works well and really adds to the story. My only issue was that the secondary plot seemed to have no real connection to the main plot.

The word "stared" was used way too much. A bit much profanity too.

I had jumped right in with Elemental Assassin #2, Web of Lies, and even thought I had some initial confusion about the world, I really enjoyed this story. I loved Gin Blanco as a heroine. I found her pretty kick ass and even thought she was just trying to find some quiet in her life after retiring from the life of an assassin, her past has a way of catching up with her. But is she really the target? Great mystery and a fun and colorful cast of secondary characters. I’m thoroughly intrigued by her romantic interests and am excited to continue with the series to see what happens next!
