The Write Time is the second book in the Leade Park series and its about Jenny Green, who’s struggling with self-love and past mistakes, and how she navigates her way to finding herself again with some help from Ben, the supportive wrestling coach. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Ben, for reasons I cant quite pinpoint, but I can see why others love him. The themes here I loved were of personal growth and overcoming self-doubt. I think many readers could relate to these particular themes making this a great read. If you’re into stories about rediscovering yourself and finding love along the way, definitely give this one a try!

I’ve loved being back at Leade Park! Book two is Jenny and Ben’s story and moves through different timelines so it reads very differently to book one. I enjoyed finding out more about Jenny and Mac’s friendship and how Jenny’s past was so interlinked with Mac’s. This is talked about in book one, but is in much more detail in this book. Another fab, easy read but definitely read the trigger warnings which are very well written.

(i received an advanced readers copy of this book, i was not paid for this review and all thoughts and opinions are my own)

4.5/5 stars!!

i have absolutely adored the first two books in this series and can’t wait to see where it goes next or what allie puts out in the future! these books read so smoothly and quickly while evoking so much raw emotion. allie samberts is an incredibly talented author and i’m so glad that i got a chance to read this book early! i highly recommend picking it up when it comes out july 11th!

jenny & ben we’re definitely my favorite couple so far. jenny is far too relatable but in the best possible way. ben was the absolute SWEETEST ever and i would 100% die for him!! jenny is a teacher at leade park and ben is one of her coworkers and close friends. there’s lots of history and it makes for an incredibly powerful story. sometimes i worry when there’s history for a couple it may be a little instalove-y but this was not like that at all and had a perfect amount of build up for me!

Allie has absolutely knocked it out of the park again with this one! I honestly couldn't imagine loving another book as much as I loved The Write Place, but Jenny and Ben were so sweet I could hardly stand it.
This book had all the angst of a second chance romance without them actually being proper exes, if that makes sense. More of a right person, wrong time vibe, until of course the present timeline where we finally see them coming together. It hit all these amazing emotional beats that had me tearing up or laughing out loud.
One thing I especially loved was Jenny and Mac's relationship. Which I did say I loved in the first book, but things do change between friends when one of them gets married, and it was both raw and refreshing to see these two navigate that change. And I really related to Jenny. When my sister was getting married, I was going through a horrible breakup and I was so scared to talk to her about it because I didn't want to rain on her parade. Turns out, I was welcome to rain all I wanted. And I'm glad Jenny and Mac came to that realization too.
I also loved the nuance of Jenny's behavior after her breakup with Kyle. How her friends were concerned not because she was sleeping around, but they knew the reason she was sleeping around wasn't because she was some sort of Samantha Jones, with all this confidence and bravado. She was sleeping around and drinking heavily out of self-destruction. They weren't judging her at all. They loved her enough and knew her well enough to understand that she was acting out of self deprecation. It could have easily been slut-shaming, but it wasn't. It actually showed how deep the friendship was.
And to top it all off, the whole story was artfully navigated through a dual timeline. One present day, and one starting nine years prior and slowly catching up to the events of the first book where we first met Jenny and Ben. It felt very The Last Five Years, but less depressing and more hopeful. It flowed seamlessly, and kept me intrigued. Especially the way the past timeline coincided with whatever was happening in the present.
And the spice was spicing!!!
I loved this book so much. 10/1o would recommend.
Thanks to Allie for an ARC copy, I am definitely getting a paperback ASAP!

Just as cute as the first with all the characters I came to love but the ending felt a little rushed and choppy. I love that Ben and Jenny got their happy ending, but it felt like Allie had more planned for the story but it got cut for time or in the editing process. I wasn’t really expecting their story to just stop and jump to the epilogue.
