An outstanding entry into understanding that not every Jewish practice is as seen on TV. Some of our very old practices have been almost entirely removed from our purview.

Jewitchery is one of those beautiful traditions and Jean makes it incredibly real for those who are in the know (and/or practicing) and for those who are only just hearing about it now. It is safe, encompassing, and a brilliant way to bring our intention into a world we have every intention of healing.

Slow burn/ will they or won't they antics aside... this is a wonderful story to fall in love with reading about characters that don't know they're falling in love.

Yes, it does presents a fictional story of the very real present-Antisemitism in our community. Why does it happen? Who can we trust? What do we do?

We rely on each other! If we manifest and invite and cultivate enough strength within ourselves, and we'll find the energy will make itself known to us. It will eventually make itself known, and it will stay with us.

Magical Meet Cute by Jean Meltzer

Faye Kaplan, who’s already living her best life as a potter in Woodstock, turns to her craft for comfort after her town gets plastered with anti-Semitic flyers. In a tipsy moment, she makes a golem, hoping for some protection and maybe a little magic in her love life.

Greg, a hot stranger who appears out of nowhere (literally, he was hit by Faye’s bike and lost his memory!).

The chemistry between Faye and Greg is off the charts, and the plot is packed with laugh-out-loud moments and heartfelt scenes. Jean Meltzer did an amazing job balancing fun with important conversations about Jewish culture and serious issues.

I was totally hooked from start to finish and felt like every character was someone I could be friends with. I’m so glad I gave this author another chance!

Thank you NetGalley, Jean Meltzer, and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really wanted to love this book. The blurb was so catching and was perfect. But the writing and the story bored me. At 13% I knew this isn’t for me. I wish the author didn’t use heavy words. Also some parts could have been omitted. For a light hearted romance this has so much unnecessary descriptions. I’m not Jewish but I’m very eager to learn about the traditions however I wish there was a guide to all these words provided by the author. Yes there’s Google but googling stuff while reading takes the mood off. I’ve read another Jewish romance which I loved. This wasn’t doing it for me sadly.

Many thanks to HTP books for my ARC. All thoughts are my own.
