I absolutely adored reading this book. I loved every minute of the feeling of getting exclusive access into seeing literally, friendship turned to skinny love turned relationship. While in today's day and age, the context of falling in love first over the internet and then in real life is more common, It felt super special nevertheless.

The only reason why I am not giving it 5 stars, is because of the inconclusive ending. Quite frankly the way the book ended was so jarring and so many open threads were left open I am shocked.
Spoiler What happens to their relationship? Ruby got sick, got a lung infection and it just ends there? What does Aaron end up doing with his life? How does his relationship with his Family, father, mother end? Does he go back to the military? Do they end up living together? In Texas or in Kentucky? How did the trip with her father go? What does she end up doing for a living in terms of employment? What about her? Does her sister end up ice skating after all? WHAT DOES RUBY AND AARON LOOK LIKE IN A RELATIONSHIP? HOW ABOUT PLAYING HOUSE FOR A BIT MORE?!
Spoiler

SO MANY QUESTIONS. GAH. I get that the book was already really long, but I'd have hoped that Zapata knows that her fans will read everything and the longer her books the better. I'm so confused. I want to read more of her novels, but if this is a common place or not. Ugh.

This book was soooooo boring! I can honestly say I was enjoying it for the first 30%ish and then it got so dull. The characters had zero personality. A lettuce would have more personality than them. The female main character was such a cry baby, she literally cried at everything. Everything. This felt like such a waste of my time. I should have dnfed it but I had hopes it would get better. It didn't. I ended up reading the dialogue and skipping parts because I was that bored and needed to get it over with

Oh wow I cannot believe I’ve never written a review for this one! It’s been a few years since I did a reread and just love it more every time I do. The audiobook was absolutely amazing!

As always when it comes to an MZ book it’s a slow burn. I love how Ruby and Aaron’s relationship starts all from a pen pal program. How they grow closer to each other with each letter. Slowly finding things out about the characters. It just works its way into your heart and the next minute you are addicted and can’t stop reading, can’t stop wanting to know when the next little touch is going to happen, the looks, the connection.

I love Ruby for being brave. And Aaron just makes me swoon with the attention and care he gives her.

It doesn’t matter how many times I read this before I still had a hard time putting this down to go to bed. I love these characters and all the elements that make them, them. I love how it all unfolds. It’s the best!

Not bad, but not my favorite MZ book.  The ending felt a bit abrupt, I would have liked to see a bit more of their resolution as there were a lot of open threads.  The MFC also was tearing up constantly which was starting to get to me.

This is about Ruby who signed up to write to a solder overseas. Half of the book consists of letters and messages. It was okay for a while, but I don't like writing like this and got bored by it. I kept hanging in there because I like Mariana Zapata's book. It was worth it though! It's a cute slow burner, even though Ruby annoyed me a little bit with her insecurity.

I really liked the conceit of this one, but I didn’t like the heroine. Still, amusing.
