Much enjoyed this. Can't always be sure who the bad guy was and that's awesome. Looking forward to the next.

Hex Hall is a bit of a surprise to me. I read the summary and thought it was incredibly cliché, but I wanted to read it anyway. These light paranormal books are always a good way to pass time.
But the further I went, the better the story got. It was rather unpredictable. It could have gone in so many ways and I couldn't figure out what was really going on.
The characters were alright. I can't say I totally liked Sophie, but she'll do. There isn't too much to say about the rest of the characters. I think they all played their parts but there wasn't enough to really make a connection with any of them.
I am still unsure about Sophie's decision at the end of the book. I'll have to see how this pans out. But overall this was a pretty good start to the trilogy!

O.W.L.s Readathon 2020
“I don't know what I was expecting a vampire's room to look like. Maybe lots of black, a bunch of books by Camus... oh, and a sensitive portrait of the only human the vamp ever loved, who had no doubt died of something beautiful and tragic, thus dooming the vamp to an eternity of moping and sighing dramatically.
What can I say? I read a lot of books.”
I liked a lot of elements of this book, especially how funny and sarcastic the main character was, but I feel like some things in the plot area were skimmed over a bit too much (especially the finale), the romance wasn't developed in the best way (but I assume this will be rectified a bit in the sequels), and the magic school didn't have anywhere near the amount of magical goodness that I had expected. When I read a book about a fantastical creature, I want it to go all in and never let you forget what you're reading about. I still enjoyed reading this, and I plan to continue the series, I just hope that it's better.
