This book is so addictive omg and the story still haunts me after I finished it. I invested in this story so much that I devoured this book within two days. It feels like I was witnessing a shattered ship slowly sinking to the very deep of the ocean. The protagonist, ugh, I don't really know how to describe her. I know that you don't have to like the protagonist to enjoy the book, but still... She's probably the stupidest protagonist I've ever read about... Will a normal person still hang out with the person who drugged you before? You certainly don't, right? But she did... And to be honest, she did not act like a grown-up person when she dealt with all the charges she faced. Despite all of her flaws, I was still extremely happy to see that she was safe and sound at last.

The characters are insufferable, I can’t tell if this book is about murder or about how much wine these people drink, and maybe I just need a break from thrillers because I have been very disappointed lately!

I did not like this book at all. The mystery was the only thing keeping me going because a 40 year old fucking the 17 year old son of her so called friend really isn’t my thing. I don’t know why the author decided to go that way, maybe it’s me and I just don’t like it but I really can’t imagine anyone who will.

The first half of the book was very slow, and I struggled to understand why the main character was welcomed into the group so easily without saying more than 4 words any time she spoke to them. I felt hungover every time I read it because of the amount of alcohol they all drank, it felt over the top and as if the author was trying to force some kind of housewife stereotype to make it relatable. It failed. The last half of the book picked up in action but it was still hard to understand why this group of women were friends and why we should invest in caring about the main character. The ending was confusing and left a huge piece of the plot unanswered (why did Callie drug Sophie? Callie never got held accountable or explained).

DNF. The characters in this book were all hateful. There was no explanation behind their actions, aside from one dealing with a rootless childhood.

If I never read another Mean Girls meets Stepford Wives, it will be too soon. This read very similarly to The Wife Upstairs, in that you know there’s something so deeply sinister hiding behind the perfectly curled hair and painted nails of the women in the community, yet you find yourself intrigued by them all. Maybe it’s my own sick fascination with what we as individuals hide, and are capable of covering up, but this was a cheap retelling of an already overdone plot.

Really fun read! This would be a great beach read or on an airplane. It was a little overly descriptive for my liking though. There were some interesting word choices as well. Stuff that I'm picky about, but it doesn't mean it's a bad book. I definitely recommend.
