One of my favorite reads of 2023.
This is a book for anyone that is a tiny bit socially anxious, or feels like they don't always fit it.
There is loss, love, personal growth, and fantastic family dynamics.
Pure Perfection.
I've so far convinced 2 people to read this book and both loved it just as much as I did.

A collection of my favorite things from this book: the Sundays spent eating at cafes, getting new books and watching dogs; Hugo and the many fisherman sweaters, travels to France, Maine, and Beyond; the consistent reminders of the importance of living well throughout the book.

I originally picked up this book based on a recommendation that readers who liked “Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine” may also enjoy this book, but fell in love with it on it’s own. Part carpe diem and part healing from grief, it was a beautifully written and heartwarming story that made me both laugh and cry. Centering around a 36 year old woman who’s been avoiding life by caring for the dying, it blooms into a beautiful world of new friendships, found family, and healing from trauma. This book is perfect for a cozy day of reading and I have a feeling it will stick with me for awhile.

The emotions this book had me feeling and the tears it had me shedding are why this book is one of my rare full 5 star reads of the year.
Clover was a character, that while she was a bit overly naive, resonated with me. She’s convinced herself it’s easier to let no one in than risk getting hurt. While helping others deal with their journey into death, she slowly starts to deal with the things she is holding onto.
The way the past and present are weaved together helps emphasize Clover’s story and written in such a beautiful and almost poetic way at times. It’s not just a story about grief, but about living life.

My first 5 star read of the year! This story follows loner, Clover, as a death doula and her self discovery throughout her experiences. I wanted Claudia and Leo to be real people I could spend time with, but it may also just be nostalgia for my own grandparents. A really solid read that gave me the same kind of warm feels as The 100 Years of Lenni and Margot. (Audiobook)
