Okay so I typically don’t go for bully romances because usually I just end up getting annoyed at the heroine for putting up with all his crap. But I will say I enjoyed this. I was glad that the bullying was never taken too far. That the heroine did know what she deserved even if she couldn’t stay away from him.
I read a million kisses in your lifetime and decided to come back and read Whit and Summers story because I was very interested from the little bits you hear of them in that book and I was not disappointed.
I enjoyed both Whit and Summer together and much as I did as their own character. They’ve both grown up dealing with parents who have given them reasons to be the way they are. Low on affection, high on drama and trauma. This book was long but it never truly felt long. I loved to watch their growth as people and how much they had changed towards the end of the book from the beginning. The plot was interesting. The character growth was great to see. I loved the ending and the separation they have before they get back together. I really enjoyed that the other didn’t immediately fix everything with no groveling.
I do wish we got a Summer and Sylvia reunion so I’m hoping she does get her own book.

There's a story here, I just keep getting distracted by all the sex. I see their connection, the chemistry, but the love aspect is getting confounded by all the fucking that's happening every time they're together. It's like, 'okay they're finally going to talk', then 'oh wait, they're going to fuck first' then 'okay they fell asleep' then 'hey theyre awake now, but wait theyre going to fuck again' that kind of went on and on and on. Even when they were confessing their feelings in the end theyre still groping each other, and that makes me think that thats the only thing they really have going on.
The degrading stuff was just not my thing so Im not going to touch on that. However, i also feel like this got too long, to the point that i was just scanning the sex scenes after the first few. I mean I get it, they couldnt get enough of each other. But at this point, i just want the story rolling. And I realized that if it just got on with the story, the book wouldnt be THIS long.
So yeah, i was kind of exasperated by the end. I didnt like the h. I get being submissive in bed but she's kind of a pushover even with Sylvie. She makes stupid decisions (so the plot could move, i guess?). I mean, go to your mother's ex-lover's house? the house where the guy youre avoiding lives? So she's lacking in self respect, sure, but also some tact wouldve been nice? Your mother is part of the reason the family broke up, what are you even doing thinking that its ok to go (with your chin up) even if the daughter invited you and youre obsessed with the son? I've read other bully romance books before and they didnt make me this frustrated.
I also dont find everything believable, all these big decisions for teenagers. l thought that the story would have been better if they were older. I also have questions about what happened after, did they go to college? Is Whit even in the business? Did Summer finish school? Did she work? Or are they just living off of their inheritance? Charities for children were mentioned but that's it.
Overall it wasnt so bad thus the 3 stars. The writing was good. I was interested in what would happen next so i kept on reading.
