I am sitting here absolutely stunned, wondering what on earth I just read. This book is nothing short of mind-blowing.
After hearing so many rave reviews, I was hesitant to pick it up. I worried it couldn’t possibly live up to the hype. I delayed and delayed, but I finally caved and got it on Kindle. From the moment I started, I was hooked. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, even at work. Desperate to keep going while multitasking, I hunted down an audiobook version, and when I saw it on Audible, I used my last credit without hesitation.
And wow!!!!what an experience. This story is a masterclass in tension, trauma, and the unexpected. The way it explores victims and survival is utterly haunting, and the twists had me gasping out loud. It’s gripping, unrelenting, and left me questioning everything by the end. I can’t stop thinking about it, even now. If you’re on the fence about this one, don’t wait just read it. You’ll be stunned too.
This was a good read, but in the end maybe just a pinch too long and a little too much of the going back and forth and around in circles . I felt that some of the story thread was getting lost in the attempt to weave a more enmeshed tale. Also, there are some holes that you don’t want to over-analyze.

I very much enjoyed this story, but gave it 4 stars because I guess I didn't think the end was as good as it could've been. The mystery was thrilling... but I guess a little anti-climactic at the very very end? But still a thrilling read.

4.5/5
This is the first book I read from Loreth Anne White. It was a fast-paced thriller with multiple POVs; the twists in the story were relevant to the story and it had me on the edge of my seat.
In this story we read about Kit Darling, who works as a maid for multiple families via the cleaning service agency. Since her work is mostly done while the homeowners are away; she spends some of her time going through the homeowners' belongings. Parts of her POV are written in the format of diary entries as recommended by her therapist. One of the houses that Kit services, belongs to Jon and Daisy, a prominent couple in the town as Jon is a famous Olympic athlete and Daisy is the daughter of one of the most prestigious families in the town. As Kit snoops through their belongings, she discovers some of the secrets the family hides.
On the other side of the neighborhood, we meet Beulah Brown, an elderly woman who spends her days "spying" on her neighbors through her binoculars. One of the nights she is suddenly woken up by a scream and with the assistance of her trusted binoculars, she witnesses something that prompts her to dial 911 immediately. The detective in charge of investigating the scene of the crime is Detective Mal. As Detective Mal does her due diligence at the crime scene, she discovers secrets and connections that all these families do their best to hide from society.
Despite the book being told in multiple POV and timelines, the author did an excellent job in laying out the story to avoid any confusion. Will definitely be reading more books from Loreth Anne White.

Officially 1.5⭐️
This one just didn’t hit the mark for me at all. It was wayyyyy too long for what it was trying to do. If she cut out the detective chapters it would have been the same story. I wouldn’t recommend this one to anyone that enjoys a whodunnit. I actively don’t try and figure out what the twist is going to be in these books because I love a surprise but this one it was hard not to see what was going to happen.

Excellent
It has been a very long time since a book held my attention as much as this book did. I honestly was not prepared for what would happen in each chapter, and I certainly wasn’t prepared for the ending. Well done!

Thoroughly enjoyed this thriller from start to finish! Was hooked very early on and couldn’t put it down!
