Amazing! I love this book (and probably this series, I'm already claiming it!).

This was unexpected. I did hear this had a similar vibe to The Kiss Quotient because Jackie Lee is a genius and passionate about her work at NASA. I was a bit adamant despite the raving reviews because of the cover. I avoid being judgmental with book covers especially in adult romance, but this is just not my jam.

Moving on from that cover, this book is delicious and very interesting. It's easy to get into and the plot was smooth flowing. I loved how it wasn't too dramatic and there were times I thought the conflict would be miscommunication, but I'm glad that even though it was present, it didn't drag on too much.

Rose West is such an interesting character and I can't wait to read her book! I loved the humor and just everything about it overall. Although, I was not the biggest fan of the play by play of Jackie's work because it was too much for my brain to understand -- I'm not well-versed with science (and space stuff).

Nonetheless, I enjoyed it a lot and I highly recommend it! It's definitely one of my favorite books of 2021. I will continue on with the series but not immediately because I want to savor the stories/world more, especially since the fourth book isn't even out yet.

Guess what? I got this on a $1 Chirp audiobook deal! Shocking. I know. Obviously I purchased this based on the incredibly deep plot lines and not at all because the cover is both 🔥 and 🤣. Clearly, I had to know.

Dr. Jackie Lee is desperate to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a NASA astronaut. She's always been the geek in every class she's ever been in and her lone experience with a member of the opposite sex involved some humiliating talk after the fact. She has a hard time believing anyone would genuinely be into her with all her intelligence and ramblings. Enter hot mechanic Flynn and Jackie's mind is blown. Can she get out of her own way?

This was kinda quick and I couldn't keep my attention on it much. Jackie was great. The people around her were interesting. You see this cover and you think super spicy, right? Not at all really. I'd say more of a rom com than anything.

Space Junk: Houston, We Have a Hottie
Space Series, Book 1
By: Sara L Hudson
Narrated by: Samantha Brentmoor, Lee Samuels

My first Sara L Hudson book, has me laughing out loud and falling in love! Fun, quirky characters and an original storyline had me at the first chapter. Jackie is a nerdy, converse wearing NASA engineer, with dreams of being an astronaut. After taking her friend, Jules, advice and going out, she finds herself taking her drunk friend Rose home. There she meets Flynn, Rose's handsome brother. But the interest he takes in her can't be real, right? And if it is, it won't last. History has shown that. Flynn is intrigued with the wannabe astronaut, but when push comes to shove, and Jackie gets her dream, will Flynn be on board with it? Fun, flirty, humorous, quirky, this story has it all. The characters are lovable and relatable. The story is fun, romantic and exciting! I love strong heroines, and Jackie is the best! Hudson has me hooked and I will be listening to more!

Samantha Brentmoor and Lee Samuels bring this fun, unconventional listen alive with a phenomenal narration. Both of these talented narrators have spot on comedic timing and pinpoint each personality with perfect precision. I love their chemistry and the performances.

It's a hate at first sight story..
Jackie works at NASA and is a nerd who doesn't have many friends. Her co-worker tells her she needs to get out more. So she goes to a bar and sees a guy leaning on a wall. She sees a girl celebrating her 21st birthday and ends up driving her home and just happens to run into the guy at the bar.
Flynn is a mechanic who likes restoring cars. Jackie's car is not in the best of shape and asks him if he can fix it.
They end up hooking up but when it came to talking about the future they couldn't see eye to eye.. but by the time the book was coming to a close they settled their differences and were happy in the end.
They both have had bad relationships (in the past) that didn't end well. I really enjoyed this story..had some funny things in it. Looking forward to reading other books by this author.
funny informative lighthearted medium-paced

So, this was a book, I guess?
It was an epically boring book. To be honest, I skimmed about 30% of this. Anything to do with NASA and her work was just long and so so boring, filled with jargon and acronyms that I was too bored to learn. I get that Jackie was a genius but, my god, my eyes went cross trying to read through it so I just gave up. I felt a bit guilty about this because my biggest pet peeve is books that are unrealistic and badly researched, this one was too realistic and overly specific.
So with all this focus the author spent on the NASA mission and details on classic cars and 1950s architecture and design, not much room was left for interesting characters, plot, growth or development. But there was a heck of a lot of mentioning of how great and unique Jackie was at the expense of all of womankind. There was so much ‘not like the other girls’ subtext it made me feel like this author didn’t have much respect for women in general, or maybe this hero didn’t.
I think maybe the author was trying to create a nerderella scenario (Cinderella/ nerd) where the heroine was so perfectly wonderful and beautiful but didn’t even know it. She had men falling all over themselves when she was around and never even noticed, she was that sweet and wonderful, she didn’t even know she was beautiful. Omg can we be over this? Being oblivious isn’t a virtue.
Overlooking all of that tropey nonsense, there really wasn’t much of a story here to speak of. I got no chemistry from the couple, very little time was spent together, much of the book was just her avoiding him at first and then them broken up. So much of this story was her at NASA and her interacting with her new gal pals. It just bored me to tears. It seemed like a great concept, with a genius nasa engineer heroine and hot dish mechanic hero but the execution was terrible.
