I personally couldn't enjoyed this book despite being interested by synopsis.

Love at First Fight follows Bridie, seemingly cursed with bad luck as her streak of horrible dates continue. Her closest friend, Hattie, disapproves of the 20 Dates gauntlet that Bridie is putting herself through in an attempt to either find The One or give up on love entirely. As Bridie finds her herself coming to the end of her self imposed challenge, she is thrust headfirst into close proximity of the one that started her bad luck spell with love: Ben. The two become best man and maid of honor to Hattie and Cal, but it’s not just the words between them that are heated.

Love at First Fight was a fun summer read. I have always loved the rivals to lovers trope and found the chemistry and banter between them hilarious and organic. My only issue is that I wish there was more focus on the main character and couple as opposed to the issues in the impending marriage of the secondary characters.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of Love at First Fight in exchange for an honest review!

Super cute chick lit!
I loved the storylines, the friend circle and all the shenanigans.

The third act conflict was a bit childish but it did not dampen my enjoyment too much.

🤍/♥️ Gives a tiny bit of description and then fades to black. But the banter is a little descriptive at times.

I really enjoyed the book until the last 100 pages. The synopsis of the book says it’s about Birdie and Ben. Which is technically true but the last 100 ish pages the main characters switched and it became about Ben’s brother Cal and his fiancé Hattie who is Birdies best friend. Now I love Cal and Hattie’s characters but their story line did not need the drama at the end of this book and that ruined the book for me.

Also, this is a British written book. Which isn’t a bad thing but as someone who isn’t British I know some things went over my head.

Joanna was the worst and I wish she wasn’t a character in this book. She is Cals ex who became famous and tried to seduce Cal and break up his wedding. Which is the last 100 pages. The book just didn’t need this. Ben and birdies story line stood on its own and we didn’t need a last quarter drama session for no reason. Also the fact that the drama got so big that Hattie called off the wedding and got pregnant and wanted to just single mom it up without talking to Cal drove me insane.

This book was a fun read. It enjoyed the enemies to love trope and also enjoyed the alternating points of view. It was pretty unique to not only have points of view of the two main characters, but also two side characters. I’m not sure whether I prefer that, but it was interesting. I didn’t get super invested in the main characters’ relationship, just enough to keep reading.
There were a few small things I found a bit puzzling or frustrating. First, I know this is a British book, but is a normal guy going to use the term “hubby”? That feels unrealistic. Also, there were several times before the wedding that someone said something like “oh, she’s just having last minute cold feet”, like that’s a normal thing in a secure relationship (which Cal and Hattie do appear to have). Lastly, when Joanna confesses what she did to Ben and Bridie what she did, but then said there wasn’t anything recorded to make Hattie believe Cal, it just didn’t make sense. Bridie and Ben heard her confess, which should be enough if Hattie trusts them, which she does.
Overall, the writing and story were fine, but I don’t know if I’d read any of this author’s other books. I felt just a bit better than “meh” about it and by the end was kind of rushing to get through it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Aria & Aries for providing me access to this eARC for my honest opinion!

While I was reading this book I kept thinking that maybe it was a re-issue. Some of the terms and plot points felt very dated. Anyway, overall the plot was ok. I felt that it dragged and the ending seemed to crazy to believe.
