This is a beautiful little story that isn't quite a story.  This is the tale of a house who was well-loved and later abandoned, the tale of what happens when nature is left to its own devices.  It's less of a story than it is something that just happens, and in that way, it's beautiful.  Not to mention, of course, Jon Klassen's beautiful-as-always illustrations, moving this book from something nostalgic and sweet to something almost haunting.  His illustrations bring something more to this book, though that 'something' will likely mean something different to other readers.  For me, it's a sense of slow stillness, though for others it might be added nostalgia, beauty, or even a reminder of the passage of time.

House Held Up By Trees is a book almost best suited for looking, for it's beautiful in an enchanting way that I don't see all too often.

I do like the illustrations - not sure middle school students would appreciate the story.

Beautiful lyrical story that appeals to my treehugging roots.

Beautiful writing though I'm not entirely sure kids will get this one.

3.45 - Mediocre
Decrepit narration. Aplomb art. Permeating setting. Austere pacing.

The mix of sadness and magic in this one is really unique, really special.

A little sad, but beautiful. I think the writing style is a little too lyrical (and long-winded) for some readers.

Gorgeous art, but probably too subtle for most kids. The story takes way too long, nothing happens until the very end. 2 stars because some adults will probably like it.

I found this book a bit melancholy and I think that adults will feel stronger connections when reading this one than children will. It was moving and thought provoking. The illustrations are again brilliant from Jon Klassen.
