I somehow didn't expect to enjoy it this much. I liked the similarities with The Idiot (but maybe I just tried to see a connection where there is none)
I think the point Dostoevsky was trying to make is that pride is the biggest of all sins. They all suffer because of their pride. Most of the things they could have avoided but their pride...
Also I am still wondering why Nellie who persuaded and pushed everyone around her to forgive, couldn't forgive till the end.

You simply can't describe this novel.You just can't it's simply "Breathtaking ".
Dostoyevsky is a genuis writer one of a kind really every novel is just a masterpiece .He is unique in every aspect .He'll make you happy, sad, crazy, mad all at the same time. And by the end of his novel he'll make you delighted and satisfied .You won't feel like you've finished a book, no he'll make you feel like you've lost a friend.

It’s hard to rate classics I feel like - I enjoyed parts of this but I also feel like it dragged painfully. But then you can see why they were influential and so timeless.
I found the first two thirds easier to ready, I felt it was witty and sharp. I like the observations that Dostoevsky makes about people, you can tell he is good at observing people and figuring out their scruples.
My favourite scene was probably the big encounter with the Prince, where the mask begins to slide. I just felt like after that point the book begun to drag, and lost that sharpness it’d had earlier.
I’d also clicked onto the twist before the epilogue, so it felt a little redundant.
But still, undeniably good.
Also - RIP Natasha, you would’ve loved posting ‘he knows where home is’ on Facebook
