I wish this book was longer, I liked it a lot, but it seemed to leave off each story right in the middle. I don't like cliff-hangers to an extent, and almost every story in the book ended with un-finished business, but it was still really good.

I am really torn with how I feel about this book. On the one hand, I did enjoy how each chapter was written from a different perspective, and I did finish reading it in a about 2 hours or so because I just couldn't stop. On the other hand, I literally exclaimed "What?!!" when I finished it. I also can't decide if I really like how open ended it is with each of the characters. The author does a good job of connecting you to them, but you only get this tiny snippet into their lives and then...DONE! That's all you get to know! I think the book is well-written...I am just really torn overall. If you're interested, give it a shot. It's a rather quick read so you don't have much to lose.

It's a strange book but interesting every time.

This was...disturbing! I didn't really like how every person was just one chapter and then you didn't get any more from them.

I really liked the idea of this book. It was well done, bleeding through the book like the word itself. (Ha ha ha.) I loved that each chapter was a different person's POV. But the only thing I felt that was bad about that was that Stolarz didn't make everything have an ending. All of the endings of the characters felt really open. I'm not the type of person to like open endings. I like all of my endings sealed with no worries about what happens after.

And some of the characters were really annoying. BUT I felt like they were only annoying in other people's chapters. I usually always liked the character from their POV. I really liked that...that you could feel differently about a person once you knew what was behind their rudeness or anxiety. Though it was actually backwards for me with Nicole. I REALLY didn't like her in her chapter. But when I saw her through everyone else's eyes, I thought she was pretty amazing. Weird, huh?

This was a good quick read. I'm glad I finally got to read it.

I'm trying to think of where to start with this review. Did I love the book? No. Did I really like it? No. Was it okay and not a complete waste of time? Yes. When I bought this book a while ago I expected it to be great since I hear such amazing things about the author. Maybe I should give the Blue is for Nightmares series a shot and judge Stolarz more on that rather than this stand alone novel.

In Bleed, there are 10 different characters that narrate their own section of the book. As different as each of these characters can be, somehow they're all connected in a way. In a way, this was a really good thing since I seem to get bored pretty easily with books... but then at the end of their section, not many of the loose ends seemed to tie together and I wonder what happened with their lives.

I did like how the title connected to each of their lives whether it was a tiny issue or the kind of issue that revolves around their life completely. Some of the characters were definitely more fun to read about than others, but of course that's expected. All in all, the book was okay. I don't recommend you buying it though. Rent it from the library instead.

This book tells the story of 10 teenagers with dilemmas such as cheating, weight issues, parent pressues and abuse. It is a great book but it doesn't say what happened to the teens in the story. There is a companion novel to it though.

TWs: A bit of homophobia, suicidal ideation, food restriction and ED

Spoilers

date a murderer. go though peoples belongings. cheat on your significant other. walk into the house of your harasser alone. it’ll all work out in the end

✨Sean and Nicole suck, I don’t know why everyone likes them. they’re scummy. he cheats on his girlfriend with nicole...his girlfriend is nicoles best friend.
✨Ginger is super bitchy and unlikable. her little sister Sadie was my favorite chapter. Though it feels weird including an 11 year old in a book where most characters are 17-19.
✨derrick is self absorbed and i couldn’t stand him. but more so, i couldn’t stand Meral. she’s a manic pixie dream girl with no character. think starrgirl but worse.
✨joys chapter is infuriating because her plan is stupid and she’s just kind of stupid. twice she goes places she shouldn’t (with Robbie in the woods and into Danny’s house) please, dear, get some common sense! Robbie is purposely annoying and unlikable, so i guess he’s okay. i hated him, but i think this was intentional.
✨Kelly also sucks. she’s a cheater as well. we never see any resolution for her. she just leaves the diner and robbie and gives up on their 5+ year “relationship” (the age gap is 4 years- 17//21)
✨Maria is a weird case. she’s kind of suicidal, making others cut her (I also think she cuts herself?) we never see her getting help. it’s played off like some kind of ‘Effy Stonem depressed bad girl’ trope

Great book from a great author. The writing (as always) was brilliant, and I could not put this book down. It's amazing!
