This was unexpectedly boring. I found Sway’s scenes with his family and that nurse Sam to be very cringe worthy. The middle part of the story was so boring. I struggled to come back to the story every time I put it away.

The first few chapters were hot as fuck. And seeing the chemistry between these characters, especially in the last book, made it seem like more awesomeness was coming. But it never came. There was too much going that was irrelevant, so many side plots that didn’t make the story.

And omg Brian and his insecurity. It was so damn crippling. Constantly bringing it up and question. It was too much. I like some reality in my fiction, but this part specifically was a bit too much reality for my taste!

And there’s this thing that Lucy Lenox does in her stories that make me cringe. It’s so gross when you put an old female character that constantly talks about sex. What’s the point? I can’t see any situation where that’s warranted or even funny. Every time the nurse did that with sway, it made me want to stop reading the story.

3.5⭐️ | so this the stories and the one I was looking forward to the most, however I’m, well, I’m not sure, it was just like all the rest, it hard feelings and sweetness and everything, but it all seemed to, well, clean, I guess, things wrapped up to perfectly, this isn’t nessesarily a bad thing, but just felt a little lacklustre. Still a solid book that i enjoyed.

[august 2021] decided to listen to this on scribd - what can i say Aiden Snow is hard to pass up

Great As Always

I’m glad Brian got his HEA with Sway, who has the coolest name. I’m glad that doctor was put in his place. I loved Tweetie and Sway’s mom. They were hilarious. I eagerly await the release of the next book. Speaking of releases, I like how Via separates the release of each book by several months. It’s hard to keep up when a new book is released every month.

Wow. I think out of this entire series this book hit me hardest. I cried a few times when reading about Brian's experiences. I loved it though. AE Via does a phenomenal job with her world building. I'll definitely be re-reading this.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book. I’m glad Brian found someone to care about him unconditionally and helped him find his voice. This romance is a lot more slow burning but it seemed a lot more genuine connection than previous books, maybe it because Brian and Sway have to overcome so much. Brian’s a dedicated war hero, after surviving as a prisoner of war and Sway lost the other half of himself, his twin Stanton. I loved the interactions between Sway, Stephanie (his mum) and Tweetie (Stephanie’s carer). Man what came out of Tweetie’s mouth cracked me up and there interactions with Brian were beautiful as well as funny.

Man Dr Dominick, one of Sway’s bosses is a complete snake when he’d say one thing in support of Sway’s suggestion about nurses being treated fairly, while always trying to get inappropriately close to Sway, he’d watch him while he’s showering, brush past him while working and as well as saying certain things that were hard for Sway to see if he was joking or not. But threatening Sway’s job and his morals were the final straw. I’m glad Brian was there to put the fear of god into him. He was actually completely stuck up and thought he was better than everyone because he’s a doctor.

I loved Quick’s reaction to seeing Brian at the Nurses’ Gala that they both attended with Cayson and Sway, it just showed the love between them and that even though they may not be related by blood, they’re definitely brothers. Man, Brian had to put up with a lot of people thinking less of him all because he doesn’t speak or that there must be something wrong with him, but that human nature. I loved the way the Brian found his voice after not being able to speak for so long due to the trauma he suffered while being a POW. It nearly brought me to tears in the hospital scene between Ford and Brian as it was such a poignant moment between the war hero brothers that would do anything for each other and that it doesn’t matter if your a complete bada*se you still have breakdowns like everyone else and there’s nothing wrong with it.

I’m looking forward to reading the next book as we’re going to get some more snippets on Brian, as Brian’s LT asked him to deliver a message to his son since he knows that he won’t make it home and to make sure he knows everything that happened. Due to Brian not being able to speak he hasn’t done that yet but he’s going to make sure he’s going to finish Jenkin’s last wish for his message to be delivered to his son. I’m also looking forward to meeting the next gen of Duke’s Bounty Hunters after they were featured briefly in Nothing Special VII: EX Meridian. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

So. The blurb made this book sound really interesting. Mute war veteran and his way to relationship and healing. But reality… was a bit underwhelming. I liked the plot, even if story seemed to be a bit hasty. Characters was a bit too black and white. Emotions lacked depth. And the mistakes. I can understand and forgive chef’s coat mysteriously changing color from black to white in a span of 10 minutes (maybe). But this. This:
“The x-rays showed no muscle damage.”
Like. How. X-rays can’t show muscle damage. At all. Even if it’s there
