The Stand is my favorite all time Stephen King book. It takes a few chapters to set up all of the characters but it is well worth it. Stephen King is at his best with the character development in this book.

This was my first Stephen King novel. I thought this one would be less terrifying because it's a clairvoyant memoir of 2020, to some degree.
The first book was mainly about the progression of the superflu disease.
The second book and third book was about the post-apocalyptic lifestyle of the survivors, who are immune to the virus in the book. The survivors formulate individual parties or groups and try to overthrow a supernatural ruler while managing some internal battles.
I thought it would be more enticing than it was. Finishing it felt like a success, given how long it was.
