Ok so very hot, author is very good at making you really feel the sexual tension as well as the emotions the characters are feeling. My thing is I feel we didn't get to see very much of the fmc being the slay girlboss fearsome lady pirate she was supposed to be. We got a lot of allusions to that, but this was mainly her being captured by men, abused/tortured by men, saved by men, rinse and repeat. I would have wanted more time spent on her when she was actively captaining alone, and cut out some of the torture like the amount of abuse/torture we saw her go through was gratuitous to me. If we're creating this kind of female character, yes her trauma and experiences with cruelty and misogyny are important and a driver of her passion, but she was helpless for most of the book and her world was revolved around men physically and emotionally. Nice twist towards the ending tho very yummy and slay lol.

I really need to stop being scared to read books based on ONE THING that I hear about them. I heard "cheating" and immediately was like nope, not for me! I had my friend spoil the plot twist and am now PUNCHING MYSELF IN THE FACE. One of my book subscriptions is doing a SE of this so I finally took the plunge and read it.

Hello, I am Megan and I am an idiot. This book was an easy 5 stars and I will forever regret asking to be spoiled. I LOVED this book so so so much. It is so dark and SO HOT. Ashley is a MAJOR book boyfriend. I am in love with this man. Bennett is a bad ass pirate babe and I bow down to her. It's so insane how I met Priest and IMMEDIATELY was like... is it hot in here or is it just the sexy, stalking, adulterous pirate that just showed up? This book was a fucking ride and I am obsessed. Let this be a lesson to you all that the book you're scared to start might just be your next 5 star read.

1/5
I have to say that this one-star rate has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that this genre definitely is NOT for me!
SpoilerSea of Ruin is a dark and M/F/M romance. If I'm already a bit queasy with the dark side, the M/F/M romance definitely made me feel uneasy. Not that I'm not okay with that! That's just somethung I can't seem to understand, that's all.

Otherwise, I have to say that the set up was quite interesting, and the writing was pretty good. Which made the difficult moment even more difficult to read!
So yeah, here are the trigger warnings: sexual assault, torture, infertility, rape.

Lost interest and decided it was garbage.

ITS A PROPER THREESOME TRIANGLE

I devoured this book like it was rum-soaked revenge and forbidden kisses. Was it mostly predictable? Yes. Insta-love-y? Absolutely. Did I care? Not even a little.
It’s dark, it’s spicy, it’s utterly unhinged—and I couldn’t stop reading. Even when I saw the twists sailing in from a mile away, I was all in. Bennett is everything I want in a heroine: fierce, emotionally scarred, and constantly one bad day away from snapping a man’s neck with her bare hands.
This one’s for anyone who lives for pirate queens, emotionally wrecked men, and plot twists that try to hit like a hurricane— though let’s be real… I saw it coming like a ship on the horizon. Nice try, though.

Heads-up though—this book is dark. Like, trauma buffet with extra spice dark. Definitely check the trigger warnings before you set sail. There are rough waters ahead, and they don’t come with soft landings.

"I came for the pirates. I stayed for the chaos and emotional damage."

I was so excited when I found out that Pam Godwin was writing a new book. You can always count on her to write a page-turner full of heat, excitement, and twists that you don’t see coming. Sea of Ruin is an original story that was truly a pleasure to read. This story is one I won’t soon forget. I highly recommend this book along with everything that this author writes!
