I started reading this series because I saw a glowing review on Reddit, and it LIVED UP TO THE HYPE IT DID
I really, really loved this. I even hopped on Instagram and did a little rhetorical analysis of this quote:
SO - the alliteration: calamitous, consuming, crippling, constricting. The harsh "c" sounds reflect his discomfort, and it creates a subliminal innerconnectivity that is just gorgeous. Another interconnected element is the weather motif: calamitous, rains, weather. And then I squealed (internally) when I saw the weather motif later:
And another:
And this was just beautiful:
Aside from thinking the writing was stunning, (a big step up from some rather pedestrian, but fun earlier installments), I loved how this book changed things up. We had a change of location before, with Meg's book, but this city was so vastly different, and the culture so interesting with metalwork ornamentation, a lack of technology, and cool TATTOOS (I am tatted so I was into it).
And the ANGST. Delicious.
I guess the only thing I couldn't wrap my mind around was how long his tail must be to do what it did and how...dexterous? Nuff said.

“This is a temporary fascination, human,” he hissed. “You are but a Season. Calamitous, powerful, consuming. But like the rains, you too will pass.” He dropped her chin and straightened to his full height, towering over her, not revealing the crippling ache constricting his stomach. “I need only weather you.”

This was bad. Sophia was like an oncoming sandstorm. He’d had time to prepare for it before. To run or hide or barricade himself underground. But now the sand swirled just ahead, and it was too late for him to avoid it. All he could do was let it hit and hope he survived.
And another:
“My life has been…wrought. Each day is filled with dread and suspicion and fixation.” He glanced at the floor, his brows knitting. “She brings me silence.” Sikthand swallowed down the tightness in his throat. “The clouds are not so heavy when she’s near.”
And this was just beautiful:
Moonlight cut through the window and glowed against his skin, so pale that pastel shades of blue and peach were the only other colors to speak of. He was like some kind of tragic Greek sculpture. All chiseled muscle and perfectly formed features, but even in stillness there was a devastating drama to him.

I really wish I didn’t discover this series already because it’s KILLING ME to wait for the books to be released! I seriously love the Clecanian series and I’m always impressed by each book! I keep saying this book is my favorite and then the next book comes out and it’s my new favorite! Loved this story, Sophia and Sikthand were a match made in heaven and I loved this slow burn romance so much! I really disliked the cliff hanger ending last book but this book ended in a way that had me swooning and teary eyed! I have no idea what characters are next and how things will progress in the overall story, but you can sure as hell bet that I’ll be ready to dive into the next book as soon as it’s released!
Ladies, and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, and everyone else, I LOVE THIS SERIES. This is for sure my favorite book so far. (Sorry Fejo) Sikthand and Sophia's story is everything I love about sci-fi and romance. Sophia is held captive in this goth heavy metal nation called Vrulatica. (What a great name for a heavy metal band.) Political unrest and the future of an alien race are on the line, leading King Sikthand to keep her as leverage. Sophia loves tattoos, LARPing, and design. She is a little goth at heart and loves the vibes of this metal-mining and storm-flying nation that produces tough-as-nails people. She is a lovely heroine who works hard to be brave, learn how to survive, and make tough choices. Sikthand is a broken hero who has lost everyone he loves due to betrayal and murder so he does not trust anyone. Their journey was tough and I loved EVERY FREAKIN MINUTE. Guys, he has a tail. A TAIL...and I was very ok with it. It wasn't weird. This story had the best slow-burn and I just savored this story.
I listened to the audiobook primarily for this series to take it slow as this is the last one out at this time for this series. Stephen Dexter is now one of my favorite narrators and all of his character voices-both male and female- are perfect. I don't know how to move on from here. I heard Rhaego's story is coming but I want more Sikthand. I NEED MORE SIKTHAND VICTORIA AVELINE. HEAR MY CALL! *weeps goth tears*

it’s impossible to choose a favorite…
But this one is so good I might cry. After mainlining all 8 books in the last week I can say definitely I have been converted to a Victoria Aveline super Stan. I feel like every book in this series was so different and so delightful. I will absolutely be buying physical copies of them all and waiting for more from her.

I love this series and I LOVE this book. The work building is epic and I love how it seems to grow in scope with each book.
Sophia was abducted by aliens and is now stranded on the planet Clecania, along with hundreds of other human women. She’s taking part in a diplomatic tour of the cities of Clecania when she’s held hostage by the King of Vrulatica. Sophia takes so much of this in her stride and remains open-minded about her new ‘home’.
King Sikthand is everything. EVERYTHING. He’s a paranoid mess after spending years evading assassination attempts and coups, so he has walls on walls that Sophia has to break through. His past has left him deeply cynical and suspicious, but I love how obsessed with Sophia he was. Some light stalking is his love language.
They had a delicious slow burn, but when these two finally start to give in to their insane chemistry, the wait is so worth it. This book is just fabulous, and I’m beyond excited for the release of Bewitching Rhaego!
This one was my fav of series, really enjoyed this one!

This is my favourite of the series, for sure! I can't believe how good this book is. I love the city of Vrulatica, it gave this book a medieval feel. But also, there's something so magical about it, it really makes this book stand out than the rest. I loved Sikthand, he was an amazing Male Lead! Everything about him made sense, and he wasn't a perfect guy but he was also perfect.
Sophia was a great lead too! She's smart and understanding. I loved the whole amgle with the tattoos, it was cool to imagine just how they would change through the book. Oh man, I love it,I even cried at the end at the cornoation.

Incredible!! Somehow not instalove, not slow burn, the pacing was perfect for me.
